Traditional Ghost/Demon Told By Generation

in teammalaysia •  7 years ago

Everyone have their ghost/demon version that been told by generation. No matter you're an adult and a religious person, you will still have the goosebumps as you imagine the tales told by your grandparents or parents.

A ghost or demon is being told to younger generation, traditionally, as a method to scare children. This is to avoid children to walk alone or going out late at night. More over, this method also been used for children who love to sleep late. This method still be used widely till' today, especially, around villages and rural area.

Tonight I will list and describe you 3 most famous type of ghost/demon according to my native's version. So here it is:

Babalan

Babalan, Balan Balan or Penanggal is basically a flying human head with the human organ attached below the head, some version is only the head. It's famous around Sabah and Indonesia for eating fetus and drinking pregnant women's blood. A Babalan is a human by day and a demon by night mostly female who practicing black magic. Traditionally, a family which have a pregnant family member, must install any type of thorns that been apply with vinegar or lime juice to every each possible entry into the house, this is to trap the Babalan's intestine, thus, stopping it by entering the house. The Babalan will also be stuck once the intestine hits the thorns. Normally, the Babalan will make vomiting sound.

Puntianak

Puntianak or Pontianak is a famous female blood sucking vampire which is famous around Sabah, Indonesia and Philippines. It can change its form from a beautiful lady to a scary looking old lady. According to the legend, a Puntianak was a pregnant women who have been murdered when she's still alive. Puntianak usually sit on the tree branches or standing beside a bamboo tree. Plus, it usually scream, laugh, or cry hysterically. Some say, Puntianak sings a sorrow or sad song while sitting on a tree branches because of it's unborn child.

Orang Bunian

Orang Bunian is basically an elves or goblins but in a different version. This usually happens in the jungle, where they will hide you or keep you in their dimension. My late grandmother was once been kept hide by the Orang Bunian for 2 days without food and drinks when she went into the jungle alone looking for medical herbs. She told us that she is in a beautiful place where there's a big castle, beautiful old houses, and met so many kind people. According to my grandma, the Orang Bunian didn't look exactly like elves or goblins but they look like a normal human but they have pointing ears. For 2 days, the Orang Bunian treated my grandma like a princess or VVIP and asked her to marry one of the man in their world, but my grandma refused and they asked her angrily, to go back to where she belonged. My grandma was quite lucky as she refused to marry one of the Orang Bunian, because once you married with an Orang Bunian, you will become part of them. Back in the village, my uncles and cousins were searching for my grandma, and finally, they found her walking in circle with eyes closed around the bamboo tree. The strangest part is, they once past by the bamboo tree before where she have been found, but none of them saw her. My grandma was sent to the hospital and slept for many hours after that. She didn't know that she's been missing for 2 days, because according to her, its only a day in an Orang Bunian's world.

This world is indeed full of bizarre stuff, but it depends on individual whether to believe it or not. Thanks to all you readers and remember to sleep with the lights on, till' the next blog steemians.......ciaooooo~~~~~
