A Christmas WishsteemCreated with Sketch.

When Simon Pang @bitrocker2020 first mentioned this topic on Facebook on the HerPortal Page, I was abuzz with ideas for this blog. Shall I write about that first Christmas Wish all that time ago in the little town of Bethlehem and how relevant it is still today and that we need to internalize it for it to be manifest? Or shall I instead talk about the wishes that we make for ourselves and each other especially at Christmas or at festivals, especially in our pluralistic society in Malaysia? Hmmmm decisions, decisions!! I thought … but then again, are the two really separate?

As one who works with energies, believes in the power of crystals, sees Angels and Masters etc etc, I look at vibration, energies, feelings, thoughts … well, you get the picture.

So I decided to study wishes in general as a phenomenon. The way I look at it, a wish for someone is like a blessing, a positive burst of energy towards the recipient that enriches both parties. It is for the other’s well-being, no doubt but it in the giving, in the TRUE spirit of it, that is, there is also a surge of positive energy in the giver. Words have power!

Of course, if it is just lip service then well, that is just too bad …. It will mean nothing much. And worst still, the recipient will feel it!

Coming from a legal background I will need to quote a legal maxim in Latin, Nemo dat quod non habet, which means “You can’t give what you don’t have”. Apparently the Catholic Church have a similar saying “Nemo potest dare quod non habet” where priests in training are told that prayer (which provides connection to Divinity and positive vibration) and their learning (left brain activity of understanding) need to go hand in hand. It makes complete sense doesn’t it? After all, a priest is expected to bless people and wine and bread during Mass, and elsewhere too. Where is that energy of blessing going to come from, if he is running on empty? Or if you have the opinion that blessings only come from the Divine, as the conduit, the priest himself needs to be filled with Divine energy so that the energy passes through to the intended recipient, instead of simply filling his own emptiness …. Right?

So by using the same train of thought, that we can only give what we have, it means that we ourselves must be in a good and positive frame of mind and feeling (feelings are really important too!) before we can wish people well, anything at from “Good morning” to “Happy Christmas” for it to not only mean something, but to be that positive expression of good vibration it is meant to be! There is nothing worse than a sour expression accompanied by grumpy greeting. This doesn’t add value, and can likely take away another’s good feelings and mood, and infect them like an ugly virus, unless of course the other is so filled with light and joy that nothing can dent their day.
You may think, “well, I am not always in a good mood so why should I lie or pretend”. Is it really wrong? And the holidays can be a difficult time for many, where people need to come face to face with family members they would rather not see, or will need to or be expected to spend vast sums of money on trinkets, clothes, presents and food that they may not really have.

There are things we can change, things we can deal with. As for the rest, dwelling on them won’t change them over night. We can however choose our reaction to them or how we feel about it. We can say “Well there is nothing I can do right now, so I am going to set that aside and put my attention onto something else.”

The question then is how? The answer is to: “Fill your cup”. Yes, fill your cup. You may wonder at this rather Biblical reference here. I think it is ever so interesting that the word “cup” is used here to speak of spiritual energy filling you/your “cup”. And it is even more interesting when one draws the analogy with the fact that the “Cups” suit in Tarot refers to Emotions. And of course, E-motion is “Energy (in) Motion”. Spiritual energy is not a mental concept. It is very much a feeling, emotional thing. When you are filled with Spiritual/Divine energy, people pick it up as a light, loving, joyful feeling from you.

When I am having a bad day, I try not to go out or see anyone.

But sometimes it is unavoidable of course. Luckily, I have several tools in my “emergency energy pick me up” bag of tricks to lift my own spirits. One of it is to take a moment, breathe in deeply and reach for one positive thought and feeling and then another and then another till I feel much better. Another trick is to play with my cats and even the great Eckhart Tolle agrees that this is a good pick me up. I think playing with doggies also does the trick! DO NOT however pick up your kids and play with them when you are in a bad mood as you will transfer your negative energy to them. Little ones especially are very susceptible.

I also use sage and frankincense to lighten my vibe. Bathing with salt water and turmeric is a great pick me up. I also highly recommend listening to a favourite happy tune or even watch a short funny Youtube video.
And of course, there is prayer and meditation, for those who are Spiritually inclined. In every religious/spiritual tradition there are chants, mantras and prayers. Beautiful holy writings such as the Psalms and the Sutras to uplift and open you to receiving blessings and positive vibrations. Starting your day right is so important. These are designed to fill your cup!

And once we are in this great space of lightness and filled with joy ourselves, and we meet people, whether loved ones, acquantances or even strangers, we will REALLY embody those wonderful wishes, that beautiful blessing whatever it may be. In this way our AUTHENTIC wishes for them will truly have that wonderful joyous energy and carry that bright positiveintention that can lighten their day and gladden their spirits. Indeed, we never know how a genuine kind word or even a smile can touch someone’s heart and have a profound impact.

So in The Spirit of the Season, my Sincerest Christmas Wish for you then is to truly and profoundly experience deep Peace and exceeding Good Will, just as the legion of holy angels had intended two thousand years ago, on that beautiful and fateful Holy Night. A Very Happy Christmas from my heart to yours!
