I'm starting a new start-up, to show myself that I can do it.

This journal will document my journey to create a sustainable and profitable startup within 3 years. I will try to summarize and limit my journey each time in a 400 words entry or less, that will showcase the ups and downs that we go through as a company.

Here’s the elevator pitch.

“I want to build an online marketplace that brings Malaysian and Southeast Asian modest wear brands into Europe and Middle East. We help market, stock, sell and ship their products through our platform in Europe.

I have lived in France for 8 years and I have the cultural knowledge, language and local connections to make things happen. According to Forbes, the modest wear market is expected to reach 3 Trillion dollars in 2021.

At the moment, the platform is in development and we are looking for funding to complete the MVP, and build our team in Europe.”

Building an e-commerce powerhouse means I will be competing with the biggest Modest wear giant in Europe and Southeast Asia, the Turkish Modanisa and Malaysia’s local chouchou, FashionValet. This will require a Goliath effort in order to be able to be distinguishable, and a male founder in this particular industry, it will be a challenge.

I would call this project Dasie, a play-on words for the flower Daisie, and also from the French work ‘From Asia’. Dasie will be my first real viable product that I think that will not be as ambitious as helping the elderly regain their fitness to go to haji, or not as half hearted as my women’s athletic hijab, the Modesty project back in 2013.

My previous forray in starting a business was always thwarted due to my fear of investing money and also focusing on the wrong things, normally the cosmetic sides of business. By nature, I am a designer and a brand developer that love to make things look good but with a flawed fundamental inside. I assume that in order to succeed in running a business, you need to know every detail of your own business to be able to be accountable to what you say you plan to do.

I’m setting a clear goal for this project.

Build a great team, take actions fast, break things, and move faster. A new start for Dasie - Europe’s Upcoming Modest Wear platform.
