One of the main reasons why I enjoy and am truly grateful that I'm on Steemit is because of the amazing individuals I've met and eventually became friends. It is exactly what the Steemit slogan shouts, "Come for the rewards, stay for the community". I'm in love with the people here.

Yesterday was Thaipusam, a festival celebrated by the Tamil community and Malaysia declares this a public holiday for West Malaysia. Ohhh what sweet time to sleep in :) I woke up at noon and as usual, I head to my discord to check up on my lovely communities and suddenly, @joannewong summoned me asking if I wanted to eat durian. I immediately accepted her offer, I mean.... who in the right mind would turn down a durian fiesta?!

We summoned other few #teammalaysia members to join us but because this was a pretty spontaneous food trip, a lot of them already had plans :( But there's always next time!

This was the awesome durian shop that @aaronleang suggested. This was my first time coming to this shop and I would definitely come again. The price was slightly cheaper than the famous stalls just right behind this. If you're wondering, what is a durian??

A very close Steemian of mine once told me that she thought it was an angry coconut! Which kinda makes sense. Imagine the green coconut got outcast by the coconut tree and it grew thorns because of all the hatred. Haha, ignore me, I'm just being random. Anyhoooooo, people who come across this fruit would either love it or hate it. It carries a very strong smell and aftertaste. So strong that when you speak, it lingers for awhile in the room. I for one am a durian lover! Always craving when the seasons come.

@joannewong & @aaronleang just came back from a holiday in Taiwan and Japan. I also thought it was a good chance to catch up with them. After the previous gathering , "Zord's Mini Gathering" with #teammalaysia, everyone was busy with their own events so I didn't managed to organize another gathering. Thanks to @joannewong, I managed to have a really productive day bonding with them. @calebleejl also manage to join us for dinner later.

I also want to thank @joannewong for buying me some lovely souvenoirs from Taiwan & Japan.

She got me three gifts which I thought was really nice of her.

The first gift was a traditional Chinese lantern that is said that if you write your wishes on it and light it up. It will float to the skies and your wishes would be fulfilled. This is the miniature plushie of that. Super adorable. The Chinese words translate to English( from left down to right down).

She said that it suits me because these are her wishes for me on Steemit! I also wishes her and @aaronleang to be blessed in everything they do.

This is also another adorable gift from her. The one with the open mouth is supposed to ward off evil spirits & the closed mouth is suppose to keep in the good spirits. It was adorable because they made it so round and fat. Haha.

Of course, if you go Japan, green tea is like the thing there. Everyone drinks green tea, eats green tea, long live green tea. Haha, but yes, this is good to keep me healthy throughout the year.

We chat till it was 7pm and it was time for our dinner. We were all craving for Bah Kut Teh, basically it is pork and herbal soup cooked in claypot. It is delicious especially after the rain. Hot and soupy... hmmm hmm hmmm~ Also @calebleejl managed to join us for this one. :)

Of course, we need selfie because every selfie is money. :D I also remember @joannewong quoting this when she was sharing her Steemit journey with us.

After our dinner, we spent the entire night talking away about Steemit, our journey, the communities on Steemit and basically everything Steemit. It was also a really productive & edifying conversation with them. What amazes me the most is that @joannewong and @aaronleang sees Steemit as a long term and @joannewong shared her vision and potential she sees on Steemit and I was inspired and encouraged.

When the restaurant closed, we were standing outside still talking to each other about Steemit. Even after we've decided to depart, we all knew that there were more to discuss and talk about.

I'm truly grateful to be part of Steemit. This platform that has brought many people to my life. Some have yet to put a face to their names, some who I've met who are amazing individuals. I'm very excited to see what 2018 has in stored for me on Steemit. I hope that this year would be a prosperous and blessed one for all my fellow Steemian friends.
