3. #TheTruth - Let's talk about tomatoes, is it a Vegetable or Fruit?

in teamphilippines •  7 years ago  (edited)

Many who do not yet know the Tomato. In the Philippines the tomatoes are often used in baked fish or pork, stir-fried egg, stir in bitter gourd, often used in salad and more. The motto of the Philippines is that tomatoes are the makeup of the complexion.

The tomato is the edible "fruit" of Solanum lycopersicum, commonly known as a tomato plant, which belongs to the nightshade family, Solanaceae. The species originated in Central and South America. It is rich in vitamins A, C, D, Calcium, Iron and B12 and also rich in fiber.

In the Philippines, tomatoes make the dish with salted eggs. Sometimes they only eat tomatoes with the onion and soy sauce and lime. But it is delicious if there is a roasted fish. Hehehe...

Tomatoes come in about every color from white to purple, pink, yellow, orange, mottled, or, yes, striped. (No polka-dots.) Commonly grown varieties include Beefsteak, Big Boy, Brandywine and Boxcar Willie. Other cultivars include the suggestively named Mortgage Lifter, an heirloom variety popular during the 30s, and Purple Haze, a large cherry tomato derived from Cherokee Purple, Brandywine and Black Cherry.

IT'S A FRUIT NOT A VEGETABLE...
