ACTOR

FERNANDO POE, JR. a.k.a "Da King" was renowned as the King of Philippine Movies. Ronald Allan Kelley-Poe for his real name. Born in Manila, the 2nd child of actor-producer Fernando Poe, Sr. and Elizabeth Kelley.

He lead the Filipino people for presidency in 2004 but became unfortunate against Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. FPJ, as called by his families, friends and fans, received the Philippine Natioanal Artist award on May 24, 2006 based from Philippine Declaration No. 1065.

He started to exert effort as an actor in many of the films shown in 1940s. FPJ spent his grade school at San Beda College, after that he continue his study to San Sebastian College, Mapua Institute of Discipline, and Lincoln of the Eastside for his secondary education.


SPORTS

MANNY PACQUIAO, a.k.a "Pacman" starts his boxing career having a 106 pounds in 1995. His previous battles were typically in minor places were shown on Vintage Sports eve boxing show Blow by Blow hosted by John Ray Betita and escalated as superstar of the program.

He got lost in a fight to Rustico Torrecampo on a 3rd round Technical Knock-Out (TKO). Then, he won the WBC Flyweight title over Chatchai Sasakul only to drop it in his 2nd defense versus Medgoen Singsurat at Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand. After that, Pacquiao gained weight once more, for the super bantam-weight division of 122 lbs., where he won the WBC International Super Bantamweight title.




EFREN MANALANG REYES a.k.a "Efren Bata Reyes", born on 1954 at Pampanga until their family moved to Manilla at the age of 5. He worked there as a billiards helper at his uncle's billiards hall, there he learned the several cue sports. When he was young at age, he played for money, and in the '60s and '70s, he played three-cushion billiards. When he was at age of 20, he claimed to be the uncomparable player in the Philippines, which is a success in the US and in Europe over some of the top 9-ball players in earth. Presently he resides in his hometown at Angeles City, Philippines.


MUSIC

LEVI CELERIO, his foremost known composition is the "Sa Ugoy ng Duyan" which tells the singer hoping that his childhood and his memories of his mother never pass. He also wants to hear his mother's song again, for him is a song of love. He also define his slumber as being peace-loving, while stars watches and guard him. For him, his existence becomes heaven whenever his mother sings him her cradlesong. Eventually, he reveals the thought for his desire: he is enduring many hardship, and this is why he was yearning for his mother's lullaby. The song concluded the singer addresses his mother and wishes that he could sleep again in his old crib. The song continue playing in every hearts of Filipino people.

He has thousands of songs composed and remained poor. But that is one-of-a-kind every man takes pride of.

He was placed in the Guinness Book of World Records for his leaf-playing effort. He was noted as the only man who could recreate music with a leaf.


A Filipina soprano singer and also an actrees, LEA SALONGA-CHIEN who is known for originating the lead character of Kim in the musical play Miss Saigon, for which she won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical in 1991, and she was also one of the early Asians to recreate the roles of Éponine Thénardier and Fantine in the musical play Les Misérables.
She is well-known for providing the melodious voices of Princess Jasmine and Fa Mulan at Disney.

Salonga was titled a Disney Legend in 2011.


He is ELEANDRE BASIÑO BUENDIA for his real name. He was born on 2nd of November 1970. He graduated at University of the Philippines, Diliman. A composer and a writer who gained fame by means of guitar, songwriter, and lead voacalist in the well known Pinoy Rock Band. Front-man of famous band Eraserheads a.k.a The Beatles of the Philippines, The Mongols, and Pupil. His popular works are "Pare ko", "Ang Huling El Bimbo" and "Ligaya".


BEAUTY

She was born GLORIA MARIA ASPILLERA DIAZ , born March 10 1951 in the Ilocos Region of Northern Philippines, is a experienced in Philippine Cinema, who became the early Filipino to deliver home the Miss Universe Crown. Oftentimes referred to as the Díaz Clan, in newspapers, Diaz was one of twelve children. One of her sisters, whome to be Rio Diaz-Cojuangco, is also Filipino actress and beauty champion, who is deceased in colon and died after a six year battle.

She was approached by person who believed she would do good in the Miss Universe compitetion and groomed the young lady. In a peculiar way, none of her family members took the competition very serious and did not follow Díaz to Florida. She was 18 years old (the youngest ever) when she became Miss Universe of 1969 after outsmarting remaining candidates on the question on "How to welcome the first men that has just landed on the moon"; Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin and Michael Collins, as soon as they get back on the planet. Diaz was crowned in the International American-owned pageant in year 1969 in Florida, USA after their video clips was set on the Statue of Liberty in New York.

I don't quite agree with the whole list, but Pacman, Bata, Lea Salonga and Gloria Diaz really did shine a spotlight on the Philippines. There are a bit more, for sure, but I guess it's better for the other countries to decide that. Freddie Aguilar's Anak became quite a hit in South Korea, so that's something.
