I always look forward to the Sculpture on the Cliffs outdoor exhibition that takes place at the Hermanus FynArts Festival in winter. This years event is on from the 8 - 17 June 2018. What a wonderful setting with stunning views across Walker Bay from the cliff path walk at Gearings Point. This spectacular vantage point offers a wonderful interaction between the sculptures and nature. With a bit of luck you may even glimpse a whale in the sea below.
The human figure is the theme was this years event and ten artists were invited to show their work.
I enjoyed the Whistling Tourist by Frank van Reenen, added a bit of cheer on a cold day.

There it is by Stridom van der Merwe. Strydom says that this sculpture is a depiction of the reason why most visitors and tourists come to Hermanus: whale spotting.

Really cool pieces. Love the one of the kid on parents shoulders watching whales.
