interesting situation to point out. It is as you say. From a moral perspective what can I see here? Firstly the police negotiator is dealing with a negative situation, an evil situation created by a criminal or a lunatic. Thus when the police negotiator is lying (a negative act), could we not say that two negatives make a positive? (Joke - I know of the proverb that says two wrongs don't make a right). I recently saw a case where Australian police were on a pedophile site for over a year trying to catch the mastermind behind the site. The controversy was that many criminal acts were being committed without the police doing anything. Hmmm, this is a concept I am passionate about. I will have to put some thoughts down in a blog about this
