Am I UNDER PRESSURE or STRESSED

in teamsouthafrica •  7 years ago  (edited)

I take it that all of us have a busy day every day. We have to wake up early, get ourselves dressed then wake up the kids and get them ready, once they are finally on the bus then it is time to REPORT FOR DUTY.

Arriving at work, your bum does not even touch the office chair when your phone rings and it is your Boss that wants an update or need to discuss something with you. Now if you are a high performer then your Boss will always give the most important subject to you to manage and finalize as he knows that he can count on you.

But sometimes, it feels like everything is just getting too much, it feels like you want to pull your hair out and scream at anything, or anyone who just as much as looks in your direction, when this happens we need to sit back and analyze the situation, we need to ask ourselves what is going on why you are feeling the way you are feeling.

If you do not analyze the situation things can become ugly very quickly, and very soon before you know it you will totally lose it, your work performance will go down, your personal life will be unstable and you will be unhappy with yourself.

So first and foremost, what is the meaning of Under Pressure and Work Stress?

Under Pressure:

“The stress or urgency of matters demanding attention, The burden of physical or mental distress, The constraint of circumstances.”

Stress:

“a state of mental or emotional strain or suspense”

So, to make it clear that, If you are under pressure in your work place or in your personal life it does not mean that you are stressed. If we do not manage the pressure appropriately and task and targets are not met on the deadline then it becomes stress.

So, what do we need to do to be able to work under pressure and avoid the stress situation?

1. Prioritize all our task, activities and deadlines from the lowest to the highest

2. When you complete a task do it properly the first time so that you do not have to re-do the task and fall behind schedule.

3. Maintain in control of each situation

4. Always ensure to have a plan for what is coming

5. When you start with a subject, Close it

6.  Manage your time effectively

So, How to manage your Stress:

1. Inform your manager that you are struggling, rather be open and honest, than to try and hide something in the work place, but your sole is falling apart.

2. Take a short vacation and re-organize whatever is causing the stress

3. Consult a Psychologist if the situation is extreme or getting worse

4. Eat, and sleep properly, and remember to do some exercise.

One of the keys to manage your working pressure is that you need to talk with someone, that someone is not necessarily someone that need to understand the situation but only needs to be a good listener, by talking to someone we also listen to ourselves, and by listening to ourselves we realize exactly what the problem is, and most of the time you will be able to repair the broken link and get to work and kick some stress Bud.

So, take care of yourself, realize and analyze your situations and then…… take control.

I think the most important part is maintaining control over your mind. That is possible only if you have a stable consciousness. Me and my girfriend achieve it by meditating and sport.
So the second most important thing is healthy lifestyle. Not exactly healthy but having a proper diet, sleep and exercising!

Thank you for adding the statement, I fully agree with you

Congratulations!!

When I was in the 9 to 5 I found that if people or the work load got too much, take a short walk in the open fresh air, clear your mind then go in again and tackle the problem.

Never believe a problem will sort itself out, it doesn't.

That is very Good advice my friend

What a nice post, think we all have felt like that.

thank you and for sure, sometimes it is all crazzzzzyyyyyyyy
