Last March 24, 2018 my High School Batch 76 celebrated all March celebrants in one party. We were quite a few but those left here were only 6 and the others abroad or seamen. One classmate, even though it was not her birthday contributed for one celebrant who did not have a stable income and to help. With all the contributions and one paid for the roasted pig (lechon) we got a big amount. Out left-over income we plan to donate to the April batch since there are only 3 of them that we know of.
We had a Hawaiian Theme. So I made decors and also the committee bought some. I also made extra leis and flowers for the hair. We made garlands to hang from the ceiling.
There are 7 of us here in the city, 2 were unavailable, one couldn't make it last minute because it coincided with his daughter's graduation. Another got busy being a member of the CIDG. But we were happy and so were they. Even just looking at the pictures.
One classmate made carrot cupcakes and they were delicious and she placed our pictures on top. So cute and nice. We got to take them home.
This was the biggest turn-out. There are usually 20-28 attendees. In this picture only 27 but just after the picture 3 or 4 more arrived. All of us were happy. Especially the celebrants. It brought tears to our eyes knowing we had friends who helped and joined with us to make this a memorable one.
This was not only a day for fun but we also did some charity. We bought this ceramic heart bank made by the father of a child needing heart surgery. He sells them for 250 pesos so we bought 2. Instead of keeping, it we all donated any amount and some money fro our collection. We approximately collected 15 thousand and we plan to give back the piggy bank to the family with the amount to help their child. Our classmate gave the bank back next day and the family was in tears and thanking them and to inform our batch how #grateful they are for the help. They need to raise 1 million, ours may not but much but we are happy to have helped.
We bought these wallet for only 50 pesos. Another fundraising for another child an young girl also needing heart surgery. She only had 30 pcs so we bought all of it. It was given out to everyone who was at the party, each had a new crisp 20 peso bill inside. According to folklore, it is not good to give a wallet, bag or coin purse without any money. It can be a coin or paper bill. The amount does not matter. Too bad she only had 30 pcs, we could have bought 5-10 pcs more. We also gave a small amount of cash to help. More #teardrops of happiness and gratefulness from the mother who made the wallets.
Each wallet also had a thank you card inside. That is good so that we could know who we were helping.
It was not only a day of fun, laughter and picture taking , but we also able to do something good. It makes you feel good that you were able to help 2 children. Both needing heart surgery of different kinds, but still able to help.
You get a deep sense of satisfaction knowing you were able to help somehow. Even if the families had tears, but they were #tears of joy. Every month our batch plans to have a monthly joint birthday celebration. Maybe there will be someone else that we could help too. They said it is good for the health and disposition of a person if they go out at least once a week with friends to relax and no stress. I am happy and grateful for the monthly activities, at least I have one day to relax and be stress-free and meet with friends.
So we were all happy, #grateful, and satisfied.
