MY FIRST TEAR GASSING

in teargas •  6 years ago

I was reminded by @blanchy last night and he asked me to write this one. I suppose being tear gassed is not that common and shouldn't of happened to me either.

In the army days we used to go out night clubbing at least twice a week. The favorite venue had no cover charge at the door and there were three different drinking spots inside.
Downstairs was a night club with a dance floor, upstairs had a ladies bar which was perfect for chatting and another bar where we used to have the strip shows.

We were like the locals and everyone knew the guys from the army base. We never caused trouble and were normally always broke. Army pay would last maybe two good nights out and that was it. Girls had to buy us drinks lol.

I was bigger than most guys and this normally put me some precarious situations. I was always back up and dragged into arguments I knew nothing about. I knew the bouncers well and had no gripe with them and they knew it wouldn't take much to sort them out either. Fake muscles from the gym isn't going to help them that much. I knew some of them from playing rugby and one we called "squealer" as he used to always moan about something.

The one night two of the guys from the base had a heated argument with some of the bouncers and I had to step in and drag them away. It was all sorted and there was a large crowd watching. There were no punches thrown but one of the bouncers threw a teargas canister at us and I knew immediately what it was and spotted who threw it. The next two hours I was fairly uncomfortable but was fine. I found out the hard way that it works on moisture. The gas attacks your tear ducts and running water is not advisable. I tried washing it out and it made it worse. Two hours later I was fine with reddened eyes. Payback is a bitch though.

A few weeks later there was another argument and "squealer" was picking on some more army guys from my base. It was getting out of hand but I watched this time as I know "squealer" threw the last canister. It was getting ugly now and I jumped in and thumped squealer and it was over before it had even started. Normally if you take out the big mouth there are no more problems and this was the case here.I personally don't like fighting and violence, but won't shy away from it if I am needed. i have only once lost my rag when I saw a husband punch his wife in a restaurant.

We eventually stopped going to the club and the last I saw of it was it was being torn down and converted into an old age home. Clubs normally have a window of popularity and constantly need changing to keep the crowds coming. They just milked it and never did a thing.

Teargas is not that bad and I am sure there are worse things out there but I am not volunteering for any more.

A hand deployed OC canister (non-directed?). I'd be curious to know where this bouncer got it and what made him think using it in a club would be a good idea.

howdy sir cryptoandcoffee! I've never heard of bouncers carrying tear gas, they thought there would be gangs to disperse of?
