What is Google Play Protect branding for Android devices?

In a bid to ensure consumer satisfaction about the safety and security of their Android devices, Google will be adding a Play Protect logo directly on to a phone's packaging box that will ensure if you’re getting a certified Android device or not.

While Google already has a certification program in place, the new feature further streamlines the process. According to the search engine company, Google Play Protect logo means that all the certified Android devices will now come with Google Play Protect out-of-the-box, which includes features like automatic malware scanning and support for Google’s Find My Device.

The branding is a stamp that all the pre-installed Google apps in a device including YouTube, Maps, Gmail, and Google Search are authentic and can work as intended.

Google has also released a list of certified partners to save you from unnecessary hassles when you are buying from a lesser known brand.

Play Protect, a re-branding of Verify Apps is Google's new security suite that leverages machine learning to detect and remove malicious apps by regularly scanning and verifying apps on users' phones.
