Apple has revealed a new $349 smart speaker ‘HomePod’!

Apples boss Tim Cook stood on stage at the McEnery Convention Centre in San Jose to reveal the smart speaker which he claimed will:

Reinvent home audio

It will compete with Amazon’s Echo and Google’s Home for the lucrative smart speaker market, using Apples own Siri along with Apple music to do everything from play music to give news, weather and traffic updates.

The new Smart Speaker will reach stores later this year retailing at $349. Using Siri to take listening to music to the next level. Cook claims:

'We want to reinvent music in the home in the way we invented mobile music,'

'We really think it’s going to take your home music experience to the next level.'

The HomePod is designed to work with the Apple Music subscription service and can produce rich sound while tapping into the artificial intelligence power of Siri.

The speaker will work directly with Apple Music and have several speakers and a built in woofer.

Apples own vice president Phil Schiller said

The Siri team at Apple had tuned the assistant into a 'musicologist' that learns the tastes of listeners and gets songs from the internet cloud.

And that the speaker has the power to

Power to ROCK the house.

The HomePod houses the same chip as the IPhone 7 so you can expect it to run flawlessly.

Now Apple always do great in their marketing campaigns, they have made this new piece of kit look amazing. Amazon and Google must of expected this and I’m they are worried at what slice of the market Apple will now snatch up.

I’m mega excited about this, what do you guys think?

These look pretty sweet! My Sonos Play:1's have been super buggy lately. I'm thinking I should sell them and pick up some of these instead.

Yeah, these do look pretty sweet i must admit!
