ASRock has unveiled its latest product in the form of a TR4 socket-based motherboard. Dubbed the X399M Taichi, ASRock’s newest mainboard is made to cater for, if you didn’t already know, AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper processors. What makes the X399M Taichi rather unique is the fact that it comes in a small form factor.
When it comes to design, the ASRock X399M Taichi features all black PCB along with several silver coloured components – a colour combination that’s pretty much used on almost all Taichi-branded motherboards. Being a small form factor mainboard means that the X399M Taichi is suitable to be used in smaller systems, which some people prefer.
Specification-wise, the ASRock X399M Taichi comes with an AMD TR4 socket which is “connected” to four DDR4 DIMM RAM slots (quad-channel). In addition, this motherboard is also fitted with three PCIe 3.0 x16 slots, three M.2 slots, one U.2 port; and eight SATA 6Gbps ports. USB connectivity includes eight USB 3.0 ports and two USB 3.1 ports (one each of Type-A and Type-C).
Aside from the details above, other key information like release date and pricing of the X399M Taichi was not announced by ASRock at the time of writing. We do, however, expect the company to reveal these details sometime during CES 2018.
