When it comes to specifications, the Nvidia GTX 1060 5GB is based off of the company’s Pascal GP106-350 GPU. It has 1,280 CUDA cores, 80 Texture Mapping Units (TMU), 48 Render Output Units (ROP) and of course, a 5GB framebuffer. You may have noticed that aside from the VRAM size, all other aforementioned specifications of this “new” graphics card by Nvidia is largely similar to the GTX 1060 6GB version.
In addition to the VRAM capacity, another change that comes with the GTX 1060 5GB is its memory bus width (160-bit). Unfortunately, it seems that this graphics card will only be made available for the Chinese market.
Regardless, it’s still rather interesting that Nvidia chose to introduce a fourth variant of the GTX 1060 graphics card. Will the addition of a 5GB GTX 1060 affect the sales of other variants of the graphics card? We’ll just have to wait and see.
