The Unfinished No.8 Symphony by Franz Schubert was started in the year 1822 and although the famous composer lived six more years after that he never finished it... The symphony though was finally finished, after 197 years, by a Chinese. His first name is Huawei and the second is Mate 20 Pro and... it's actually a smartphone that can fit most of the pockets.
Thanks to its AI powers, specialists at Huawei in collaboration with Emmy award-winning composer Lucas Cantor, managed to finish Schubert's symphony that will be performed in London on February 4 by an orchestra. How could a smartphone deliver the final two movements of the great symphony? The answer was given by Huawei specialists for gsmarena.com in the following.
"The dual NPU of the phone was used to analyze the timbre, pitch and meter of the existing movements in order to generate a melody for the next two. That melody was then used by Emmy award-winning composer Lucas Cantor to arrange an orchestral score."
AI is somehow scary for some who see it as a threat that can take control over humanity and destroy it while others seem to not only trust it but already putting it to work and not your everyday work. But to compose music... What do you think about AI in general and the way Huawei is using it?
