Well i think chrome OS is perfectly fine for a laptop machine. Yes you may not get the same applications as on a windows machine, but you do get android apps. For me as a programmer however it's not ok, even if i find a code editor i need another machine or an emulator for the program to run. Anyways $1000 is still a lot.
