Hi Guys,
I am new to steemit, but I can already see its potential. I have been watching cryptocurrency and blockchain technology for many years now. I am vested in bitcoin, reddcoin, and just about any altcoin you can name. I pretty much own a >$1000 stake in top 20 market capitalization coins on http://coincap.io/
I am also a software engineer and blockchain developer, and for some time I have been looking into how to 'monetize' the like button on facebook using blockchain technology in my spare time. I've been very interested in the idea of providing a mechanism to users to encourage high value content; to allow posts on facebook to become richer, and more entertaining. At the same time, the poster could make a living providing interesting and curated information for the public, their friends and family alike.
I personally think steemit will quickly replace http://www.reddit.com, in the same way the online news and twitter has replaced the brick and mortar journalist of the past. My top 10 reasons justify this position:
- Movement of capitol with blockchain technolgy is cheap, quick, and secure.
- The like button currently has no inherent value to either the 'likee' or the 'liker' on competitors websites
- reddit doesn't currently rewards its users for posting content, or reading and curating it.
- Providing incentive for high quality posts reduces spam - and provides a high quality rank of content
- Readership on steem will increase exponentially as web site crawlers (a.k.a. Google Bot) discover high quality original content in this site - posting it with high 'rank' in search engine indexes.
- blockchain technology has yet integrated with social media technology in a harmonized way by any competition - there is a large technology 'moat' around this idea.
- steemit value for posts will begin to be used to help determine 'search rank' content by search engines algorithms.
- steemit has yet to realise its marketing potential for big business to invest in high quality content and engaged user community.
- business will be setup around steemit, paying professional journalists to post high quality content for a fixed pay, and taking any additional returns at risk.
- steemit is damn easy to use and easy to understand :)
I am looking forward to the bright future here.
