New life for Microsoft Edge. New life thanks to Chromium. The Redmond web browser has been released to Insiders and is therefore available for use in the Dev Channel and the Canary Channel, allowing weekly and daily updates. In this case the new web browser we know is now based on the Chromium platform and this will allow us to have a better use of the browser but also of different performances.
Microsoft Edge: with Chromium new life
As mentioned , Microsoft's new browser comes in two versions : on the one hand the version on the Canary Channel that will offer users daily news in development while the Dev Channel version will enable weekly updates with a search for greater stability to the entire browser. Both versions are already available for Windows 10 but it has already been stated that availability will soon be available with compatibility for Windows 7, 8.1 and MacOS as well.
The basis of the web browser is Chromium and this therefore only refers to what we saw with Chrome. In this case the main innovations of Edge partly concern the graphics with which each user can choose based on the type of experience he wants to aspire to with the opening of the new tabs. New organization for browser settings that are arranged clearly and explicitly with the various options for the user.
Clearly Microsoft puts its own and puts its own Bing as a search engine. In fact, to modify it you have to go a little deeper into the settings and the thing does not appear, at least in this first phase, as obvious as it should be. In fact from the menu you have to access the "Privacy and Services" section and at this point you can choose the search engine. The surprise? Google does not appear in the list where only Bing and Facebook are shown. The message seems clear enough: Microsoft wanted to rely on Chromium but then didn't want to include Google as a search engine. In fact, however, with the "Manage search engine" section it is possible to manually enter any engine and therefore also Google,
Synchronization of favorites from other web browsers is also possible as well as the possibility of installing extensions. These can also be downloaded from the Chrome Web Store and enabled on the new Microsoft Edge. All this clearly does not seem to make it too different then from Chrome in the use but in fact it turns out the first version still not public but for the Insiders and therefore the road for the development is still long.
