The Chevy Bolt will be fully autonomous in 2019. GM has filed a petition with NHTSA to change some safety rules to allow for testing of the fully autonomous vehicles on our public highways. The interior of the vehicle does not even have a steering wheel. The future is closing fast. Autonomous vehicles that can be summoned with a cell phone and paid for with a credit card will do away with much of the private ownership of vehicles in the larger cities. It will make no economic sense. Per trip fees will be so low and convenient that people in those areas will stop buying cars. The drunk driver will also become a thing of the past once the vehicles saturate the market.
