Mark Zuckerberg apologizes for Facebook's data privacy scandal in full-page newspaper ads

Mark Zuckerberg , has apologized to the British for the case of data theft of 50 million users. The CEO of Facebook has published a full page of advertising in the English press with a message: "We have a responsibility to protect your information, if we can not do it, we do not deserve it."

The social 'network of networks' is facing increasing governmental scrutiny by Europe and the United States. Zuckerberg's apology follows allegations to British consultancy Cambridge Analytica for improperly accessing information from Facebook users to build profiles on US voters that were later used for US President Donald Trump's campaign in 2016.

The apology, in black text on a white background and with only a small logo of the company, has been published this Sunday in 'The Observer', one of the newspapers whose information on 'Facebookleak' is having an impact on the stock market crash. Facebook shares.

About the case, Zuckerberg already assured that an application built by a university researcher "leaked Facebook data of millions of people in 2014". "It was an abuse of trust, and I regret not having done more at that moment," he said, apologizing for the first time in television interviews in the United States.

Cambridge Analytica, on the other hand, defended itself saying that it thought that the information of the users was obtained according to the laws of protection of data, and that later it eliminated it at the request of Facebook. On Friday night, researchers from the British data control body searched the offices of Cambridge Analytics in London for several hours.

Zuckerberg, whose firm has lost more than $ 50 billion in market value since the accusations, said Facebook would provide users with more information about who can access their data. "Thank you for believing in this community, I have promised to make it better for you," he wrote.

Advertisers Mozilla and the German bank Commerzbank have suspended ads in the service and the hashtag #DeleteFacebook has been a trending topic. On Friday, electric car maker Tesla Inc. and the Facebook pages of its SpaceX rocket company, with 2.6 million followers, were eliminated following the promise of its chief executive, Elon Musk.

Is that apology in the FT? and what day was it published?

Great article - did you write all of it??

No i don't, Thank you for letting me know. I'm adding image source now.

Done are you happy now?

Are you?

Nope not until i know we're cool. :D

Haha, yea I am cool.

Thanks for updating

Glad to have you here kabir 😄

What facebook should do is to give clear details on how it happened and clear details on what they plan to do next. An apology is nice, but without proper actions, it's just like they were forced to issue it.

I concur. It's nice to have an apology but we will see how this plays out by actions, not words.

Yeah true but i don't think they can reveal all details due to political involvement. Thank you for stopping by @daddynifort

recently, i was arguing with a friend whose stand was that facebook would eventually buy off steemit, and i was trying to find a footing as to explain that that concept is totally impossible , thanks @cyberwarrior, i can bring to light my case with this singular news. by the way, why did Tesla and SpaceX eliminate their Facebook pages?

I guess Elon doesn't seem to like Mark very much :p thanks for stopping by @steemcenturion

Interesting and bold move on Elon's part. I wonder how many Steemians have facebook. I'm considering removing everything and only directing it to my Steemit Profile.

Great idea, Go for it Melissa :)
