Last year, Motorola introduced the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus successors, the Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus. The phones were unveiled with Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box, but were later confirmed by the company to receive Android 8.1 Oreo update.. The Lenovo-owned company has fulfilled its promised after all. Currently, the Moto G5S Plus has started receiving the Android 8.1 Oreo update. Motorola seems to have skipped the Android 8.0 version and has jumped directly to Android 8.1. As of now, only the high-end variant of the Moto G5S Plus has been bestowed with Oreo update. The company is yet to reveal the rollout timeline for other variants and the Moto G5S.

Moto G5S Plus: How To Install Android 8.1 Oreo update

It must be noted that once you install the Android 8.1 update on your Moto G5S Plus, there is no going back. You won’t be able to back track to the previous version, mentions Motorola on its website.

For installing the new update, make sure your phone’s battery is at least 50% charged and you are connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. If you have not received the notification pop up as of now, you will need to check for the update manually by heading to Settings > System Update. The system will then check for the update and notify whether your phone has received it or not. If yes, then go ahead and install it.
