The HoverBike S3 has been referred to as the world's first flying motorcycle and the flying vehicles are now being developed with expectations that they'll hit the market sometime next year for consumers to get their hands on.
The project developers recently got a nice cash boost from Russia's state development bank, Vnesheconombank (VEB), who donated millions of dollars to the endeavor.
It is estimated that the hoverbike will cost between £30,000 to £60,000.
The company behind the Scorpion-3 hoverbike, Hover Surf, has said that they are looking to develop a multi-functional platform.
And this multi-million dollar investment is really going to help them to speed things up and try to get to market quicker with their product. Though, it isn't known exactly how much VEB is going to be donating to the project.
The VEB has said that they imagine one day that the vehicle could be used by both consumers for transportation purposes and for cargo transport as well. They suggested that it could prove to be extremely useful in a region like northern Russia.
The Russian tech company, Hover Surf has already received requests for the hoverbike from several Asian countries, along with the US, South American, and Australia. As well, preorders have already come in from the Middle East and Asia. They fully hope to begin selling these bikes by next year.
It has been suggested that this hoverbike might work to revolutionize transportation for us as we know it.
Aside from cargo transport options and common consumer travel, those with the project for the hoverbike also insist that it might be able to be used for other things like competitions, races, and extreme sports.
The Scorpion-3 is designed as an electric-powered, single-seat vehicle, and it combines a traditional motorcycle design with quadcopter technology.
Hover Surf also isn't the only company in the market right now that is working on this sort of technology, in just a few short years we could see a variety of these vehicles come to market for consumers to purchase.

Yeah that's definitely progressive. It's only a matter of time before they figure to cover the blades in a safe way while it's in operation.

I wonder how long they intend the battery to last per charge on the final version.

It's difficult not to look at the design and wonder what percentage of users will be badly injured, or killed, trying to ride a flying motorcycle... I mean, have you seen some of the crazy people that drive regular bikes on the highway??
I'll admit: it looks fun as hell. They'll definitely have to find a way to cover the top of the propeller cages to allow users to avoid losing a finger, hand or foot. Ans that's nothing compared to what might happen when one of these hits a tree. You should see what a pine tree does to a snowmobile here, and those few on the ground most of the time.
Nice post, @doitvoluntarily! Followed you.

This looks half badass and half nightmare. Good luck with regulation here haha. I keep thinking of sci-fi movies in the past where we had sky roads, flying/autonomous vehicles and buildings that touch the sky. As it turns out this really isn't sci-fi anymore

I predict quite a few lawsuits from this idea. People couldn't use hoverboards because they exploded all the time. Put propellers on a motorbike and I'll bet a crash or bumped noggin will happen pretty quick. On another note it looks like the way it's built would kill your back. Those riders are all hunched over. Looks uncomfortable to sit on.

Great Post. This looks like it will be used for recreation, and not day-to-day transport.
There's another company called Lilium that's going to start "air taxi" with an uber-like app by the 2020s. It's a 5 seater, VTOL vehicle, and it can go upto 300 kms.
