Be it a smartphone or a computer,a cpu(central processing unit) and a GPU(graphics processing unit) are always in board.
Both of them process and manipulate data.

Many of us thinks that CPU handles everything on a smartphone, well that's not true, and GPU does more than graphics processing .

Some major differences:
-Number of cores present
CPU has much fewer cores to GPU,for instance Intel core I7 processor has just 4 cores, while Nividia GTX GPU has 3584 cores, I know you're suprised at this moment

-Number
CPU and GPU ,they have different architectures.
CPU is meant to perform complex manipulation to little set of data, while GPU performs simple manipulation to lot of data.

In other words CPU perform operations efficiently and quickly, that's why those little number of cores have high clock speeds
Gpu has lot of cores with little clock speed and they are meant to process lot of smaller operations at once.
-Can one replace the other?
You may be wondering since they both process data, can they replace each other? Well the answer is NO.

Lastly GPU is a CPU that handles operation which CPU is unable to handle.
