Drones at Gatwick Airport: the fault of a disgruntled employee?

in technology •  6 years ago

At the end of last year, there was great chaos when at least two drones were seen flying near Gatwick airport. The inconvenience for the passengers were many and the investigators identified, erroneously, two suspects, then released.

The investigations continue to this day and it is still not clear or official who has been to use drones near Gatwick airport and its motivations.

A new track relaunched by the Standard Standard at this time points the finger at a disgruntled employee calling it an "inside job". The source of the statement is currently anonymous but would be close to the investigators.

The reasoning would concern the elevated knowledge of the structure of Gatwick airport by the attacker. The latter was aware of blind spots and areas where the drone would have been little or not visible at all so as not to be immediately knocked down.

Always reporting what was written in the online journal "hypothetically may have been an unsatisfied employee". The definitive confirmations are still missing, as well as the real motivations behind the attack on the British airport.

The investigations have not yet officially reached a conclusion and therefore there could be further developments in the future. The Sussex Police declared through a spokesperson that "we are keeping an open mind on who is responsible and their motivations".

The alarm generated the cancellation of one thousand flights and approximately 140 thousand passengers more or less directly involved in the problem. Later the Gatwick airport was equipped with new countermeasures for the removal of drones that were initially not present.
