How many of you actually use Google+?steemCreated with Sketch.

I've been using Google+ for quite a few years; I remember I first got an invitation to use it from a friend of mine back when I was in high school. Quite frankly, it changed my life forever. You generally don't hear that kind of thing coming from social media, let alone... Google+ but sure, I can say it was significant. Google+ was the first time a social network really pointed me to my interest instead of just being exposed to cat images or getting swarmed with video game invites, like what happens on Facebook (I swear just one more -.-). Everything about Google+ seemed interesting, and it seemed to mix a lot of the positive qualities of Facebook, Twitter and even Tumblr. It was pretty useful for me.

Today, Google+ seems to be what many have claimed "a ghost town", but really that isn't necessarily the case. Most of the activity is actually in Google+ communities, and if you search for topics you'll see what has been popular for the past few days or hour. It's really the life and soul of Google+, then with the new additions of Google+ collection, this gave niche writers and creators a bigger opportunity than ever before! Organizing all their posts into specific topics and allowing people to follow those topics, separate from just Communities. These can be a range of topics or specific, long tail niche keywords, that will help you succeed and grow a large following base!

I've gotten many followers above 10,000 currently and It seems to continuously grow. Maybe you can get even more! So what are your experiences on Google+?

I use Google+ and also facebook for mostly different reasons. I use facebook primarily as a means to share stuff with people I know in real life whereas I use Google+ for discussions with people all over the world on topics I am interested in. I don't think Google+ is in any way a ghost town. I have thousands more people in my circles than I have friends on Facebook and there is plenty of activity. If you aren't seeing activity on Google+ then you just haven't circled/followed the right people, joined the right communities, etc.

I have no idea if what we're using at work is even google+..am sure it is as it's updated every now and then.
Is 5 tags working now??

Given the fact that Snowden revealed about Google giving up info to the Feds, I won't ever use them or anything related to them. In fact, I use a java script blocker to block the scripts that they run on other websites throughout the internet to thwart their shadow profiling (like Facebook does). But sadly, I realize there are millions of people who don't care about personal or internet privacy.

Why does anyone expect thank anything posted on a social network is private? People expecting that don't understand what such a network is for. It's not that I agree with or support what Google is doing but no one should ever seriously expect that stuff posted on a social network, no matter how privacy oriented, will remain private forever.

I totally realize that nothing posted on social networks is private. That is why I, and a large subset of other like minded people, don't use them at all. Personally, I prefer to have social contact in a real life manner. Secondly, even if you wish to expose your life online through google or facebook, the fact that those companies willingly give up your personal info to the feds is what is most worrisome.

Companies like Google give up the information because they see it as the path of least resistance. They need enough backlash from users to make sure that isn't the case. I see that you are using steemit which is also a social network. The feds don't even have to ask to get what you post here. Every other social network should be treated the same no matter how much privacy they claim because even if they aren't willing to give up the info, can you really trust them to be hack proof? Or that policies or laws won't change at a later date?

That is correct. I know without a doubt that everything I say here is available on the blockchain forever. However, I doubt any significant percentage of facebook/google users understand or realize that they are essentially giving the 5-eyes access to anything they post. How many know the extent to which profiles of their life are created and shared (or with whom)? Big difference in my book.

Ignorance is no excuse and they certainly should know even though many do not. That kind of information is widely available and Facebook has been around going on two decades. You would think that the number of high profile hacks that happen on a regular basis would give people a further clue.
