Fellow Robots, a Silicon Valley technology firm, partnered with Lowe's to develop the LoweBot. This 5 foot-tall autonomous robot is bilingual, can navigate through the aisles, avoid obstacles, greet customers, and assist customers with finding items. The robot will even walk customers to the correct location in the store to find their items.

Additionally the robot will scan inventory throughout the store to detect inventory patterns and assist with inventory control in the store.

This robotic introduction follows a two-year test of a similar robot at another Lowe's store chain, Orchard Supply Hardware.

Will Walmart be next to replace store greeters with robots?

Dreadful news...

Being a bit old-fashioned I enjoy interacting with people more than machines. It just feels more personal to me.

I also think that this will potentially reduce jobs available. A lot of part-time and retired people work at the Lowe's here. These robots may replace some of those jobs.

It's the whole human race who is going to be old-fashioned very soon... We don't even want to invest in ourselves. We are just so intent on making ourselves so irrelevant....

Let the machines do all the terrible jobs. Activate Basic Income allowance.
Let the population pursue their real interests and give back to society through creativity endeavours and helping each other . Technology always wins so we must change our view and adapt. http://universalbasicincome.org/index.html

Adapting to a changing world requires far less resource consumption than trying to change the natural course of things.

Steem on,
Mike
