DNA App Store is an online store that provides information about your genes and helps you in learning more about health risks and predispositions. It may not seem as a big thing but it has huge potential and one can learn a lot from it about itself. Justin Kao, cofounder of Helix(A San Francisco based company), secured $100+ Million in a quest to create the first DNA app store for genetic information. You must be wondering Is it free? No, it is not free but it costs nothing (only $5). According to Kao, most of the people are ready to spend a couple of dollars to look into their DNA and derive their traits and other cool information about themselves.

Genomes consists of a lot of information about health risks, physical traits and relations. There is not a big market for DNA data as only ancestors tests could be performed. The things that these people were missing is Fast DNA sequencing machine and a business model.  

The basic idea proposed by Helix is to collect a sample of DNA from anyone who buys a DNA application followed by the sequencing and analysing of its genes and at the end the most important task is to digitise the information so that developers could make it happen. “Sequence once, query often ” is the basic idea behind all the user interactions with the application.

There are further much more things that can be added to the platform like a user can travel with its digital DNA in its pocket and have enough rights to give access to limited people or people that he/she want the information to be shared with. However these things may incur extra charges. The potential of DNA app store is limitless if we can explore our whole DNA and can drive a lot of information from it like chances of cancer or any other severe disease so that it can be corrected before it hurts our future.
