A big criticism of PES fans in relation to Konami has always been the company's marketing

However, in the new eFootball 2022, things got even worse.

In July 2020, Konami announced the change of graphics engine. Migrating to Unreal Engine. And created great expectations by posting this trailer:

After this trailer, fans of the franchise spent long months waiting for new information about the new game. The expectation was for an ultra realistic game with state-of-the-art graphics.

11 months later, Konami surprisingly released the new game called "New Football Game"

Believe it or not, that was the name. But the worst part was not that. Fans of the franchise, who were eager for a revolutionary game, saw this:

Seeing this video, we can imagine the revolt of the fans. Konami did not keep their promise, and completely changed the course of the game.

Few days after the "launch" of the New Football Game, Konami spoke up, and said it was just a server test.

But the damage to their loyal fans had already been done.

After another month of silence, Konami went to the public, and finally announced their new game, eFootball, the rebrand of the old PES

A cross-platform game, and free to play. A total change in the direction of their franchise.
