The so-called Explorer Edition of the Google Glass in 2013 did not meet popular success, but turns our Google has not given up Glass for good.

After the failure of their first attempt, Google decided to redesign the Glass for the workplace. The developing team lives in Alphabet's X division, where Glass was first developed as a project of Google. The new version is called Glass Enterprise Edition.

Companies testing EE—including big corporations like GE, Boeing, and Volkswagen—have attained huge gains in productivity and noticeable improvements in quality.

I played with one of these about 4 years back. They gave off the impression they were more a toy than tool.

However, I can easily see them being beneficial to corporate manufacturing, where instead of a tablet in hand, you can just walk down a factory or supply line with all the information you need broadcast then and there. Scan bar codes, learn routes, connect it to delays or adjustments.

So, good to see them continuing the experiment. It'll likely have more traction in the business world than the consumer.
