Wireless printers free you from unsightly cables.
Connecting your printer with a USB cable limits mobility and access to your printer, not to mention the ugly cable running through your office. You can solve these problems by buying a wireless printer. Wireless printers come in two basic types:
*Bluetooth
*Wi-Fi
Bluetooth is simple to set up and use but is more appropriate for small office spaces and a limited number of users while Wi-Fi takes a bit more to set up but can serve more users over a greater range.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth uses a low power wireless networking protocol to connect devices within close range, generally no further than ten meters. While most contemporary laptops come equipped with Wi-Fi adapters, Bluetooth is a little less common. If your computer doesn't come equipped with Bluetooth. Bluetooth networks have the advantage of being easy to maintain -- you don't need anything other than a Bluetooth-equipped printer and Bluetooth-equipped computers. No routers or other networking equipment is necessary.
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi printers are accessible over a Wi-Fi network. Wi-Fi normally uses a similar radio band to Bluetooth, but with more power. Devices that connect over a Wi-Fi network must be within about 100 meters of a central wireless access point, though with repeaters the range can be greatly extended. Using Wi-Fi to connect to your printer is more appropriate if you have a larger office space with more employees. However, a Wi-Fi network is a bit more complex; a central wireless router must be set up and secured and the wireless printer must be added to the network.
Web-based
Another way to connect wirelessly to your printer is to connect it over the Internet. Web-based printers are accessible from nearly any device that has access to the Internet, provided that they are shared with those devices. A Web-based printer is accessible even when you are out of the office and your devices generally don't need a special printer driver installed to access them. Web-based printers are a bit more expensive than other types and must, of course, have some access to the Internet, either over a wired (Ethernet) or wireless network.
Software
Alternatively, software will allow you to turn just about any printer into a wireless printer, provided your PC or Mac is hooked up to it. Cloud Print from Google allows you Web access to your USB printers through your PC -- it also turns a wireless printer into a web-enabled printer. FingerPrint allows your iOS devices (iPad, iPod Touch or iPhone) to print wirelessly to a printer connected to a computer.
Converting a USB Printer
If your printer doesn't have any wireless capabilities, you can still convert it by connecting it to a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth print server. As with the printers, a Bluetooth server is easier to set up but has limited range.
Bluetooth dongles add Bluetooth capabilities to any USB device.
Bluetooth is a wireless connection technology that allows you to connect several devices in your home. Like Wi-Fi, you can use Bluetooth to exchange files and operate electronics. Wireless headsets, cellphones and even gaming consoles can all use Bluetooth in one way or another. While Bluetooth has certain limitations, such as a shorter range and lower bandwidth then Wi-Fi, it can make connectivity between devices in your home more reliable than other wireless alternatives.
Simple Setup
Setting up a Bluetooth connection between two devices is quick and easy. The exact interface for doing so varies depending on your devices, but to connect two devices you need make one discoverable while the other one scans. Once the scanning device finds the discoverable one, you initiate the connection and enter the PIN as directed by your user's manual. That's all there is to it. You shouldn't have to reconnect the devices once they've been paired.

Compatibility
A Bluetooth headset is compatible with any other device that supports Bluetooth, regardless of make, model or design. You can use it with your mobile phone or pair it with your gaming console or computer for easy chatting online.
Your Bluetooth keyboard can work wtih your computer and your PlayStation. The only issue you're likely to encounter is if the device in question can only pair with a limited number of devices.
Less Hardware
Obviously the lack of wires is a benefit of Bluetooth, but it's even less bulky than Wi-Fi. To create a wireless network in your home using Wi-Fi you will need a router to set up the access point.
All communication between two devices on a wireless network must go through your wireless router. With Bluetooth, the devices speak directly to one another. As long as your devices already have Bluetooth enabled, you do not need any additional hardware to connect them.
If you do need extra hardware, it's in the form a small USB dongle that adds Bluetooth connectivity to your computer or device.
Security
Bluetooth has inherent security in two ways. Firstly is that it is not always broadcasting, unlike a Wi-Fi connection. When you want to connect two devices via Bluetooth you set them to be visible, also sometimes called "discoverable." This visibility is only necessary until the devices have been paired. Once paired, you can turn off visibility and keep the device closed to new connections.
secondly is that in most cases you will need to authorize the connection using a PIN or code to connect two devices. For instance, if you have your laptop's Bluetooth set to discoverable, a stranger still can't connect to your computer until you approve the connection manually. Finally, the shorter range of Bluetooth devices means that users outside your home are unlikely to even see your Bluetooth device
How to Print Via Bluetooth With the iPad
Print directly from your iPad to a Bluetooth-enabled printer.
The iPad is an essential business tool that enables you to access and edit a variety of files remotely, as well as print any document, spreadsheet or presentation saved to the device. While the iPad doesn’t include an app for printing using Bluetooth technology, a variety of companies offer third-party apps that allow you to print directly to a Bluetooth-enabled printer. If you’re using an HP printer, consider installing Hewlett-Packard’s free HP ePrint app. Alternatively, you can use a free third-party printing app such as iCan-Print or PrintDirect to complete the process.
Download and install your preferred printing app such as PrintDirect, iCan-Print or HP ePrint for HP printers (links in Resources). Open the app when the installation process completes.
Tap the "Setup" option to locate the Bluetooth-enabled printer on your network, and then tap the name of the device to add the printer and return to the app's main screen.
Select the application you want to print from, such as Email, Photos, Safari, a cloud service, or a productivity application such as Pages or Numbers.
Navigate to the material you want to print, such as a document, spreadsheet, Web page or photo. If you want to print an email attachment, open the message, then tap the name of the attachment.
Tap “Print.” The document or photo you selected prints automatically.
