Have You Ever Seen or Heard a Quantum Computer!

The Quantum Computer is the Future.

This is the quantum computer research lab at IBM. Imagine 50 years ago when computers were the size of a small bus. Well, quantum computing is still at that stage. But my guess is that Moore's Law will apply to Quantum computing as well.

What is Moore's Law?

Moore's law is the observation that the number of transistors in a dense integrated circuit doubles approximately every two years. ... Moore's law is an observation or projection and not a physical or natural law.

With that size it will be a short while before it becomes mainstream.
We all know who is going to be the first users!
Eventually it will be out.
One more thing Quantum computing will need faster internet to do its business.
Most people still using entry 4G internet.
Wait and see.
Keep on steemin'

Colder than outer space. That is pretty wild. Thanks for sharing. I do not understand too much Quantum Computing, but I think you're right, in the future they will have an impact in our lives. Cool to see it in the early stages.

It would be hilarious of the same size we see today, people will conceive that as not a computer rather something else. Because the technology has been polished to the highest possible stage.

Moore's law is an observation or projection and not a physical or natural law.

I would say it was just an assumption or theory to analyze something and it has never been a physical and natural law.

Thank you @hilarski....steem on and stay blissful...

@hilarski,
No the world is looking for ubiquitous computing! Then they will add quantum computer features there :D

Cheers~

Yeah sure it will in few years..
As a computer student, i can relate and break it down a bit.
You know that game where you say "think of a number", then have the person do a series of arithmetic operations with that number, and you can guess the end result even though you didn't know their original number? Quantum computing is a bit like that, except you have a roomful of people thinking of all possible numbers up to 2^n, where n is the number of randomised qubits you start with. If you think of quantum mechanics in terms of "many universes", each of those 2^n numbers is encoded by the binary arrangement of the bits in a separate universe.
How is that useful? Because unlike people in normal "multiple universes", you can use quantum interference to get them to "talk to each other" and notice repeating patterns among each other's answers. In particular, just as the regular discrete Fourier transform can give you the dominant temporal frequency (or equivalently, wavelength) of a time series of data, the quantum FFT can give you the "universe wavelength"[*] of a quantum-superposed set of answers; that is, "how many universes sideways would you have to go to find someone with the same answer". Let me stop here. It feels good to have an idea of what you talk about @hilarski.

I agree with you @georgechuks.
Quantum computing has the potential to revolutionise how we use data and power machines, but what is it? It differs to classical computing in one fundamental way – the way information is stored. It makes the most of a strange property of quantum mechanics, called superposition. It means one ‘unit’ can hold much more information than the equivalent in classical computing. Nice on @ hilarski

on the otherside we 'll experience potential threats on all of our sorts of security t's all depend that no one have a quatum computer I'd encourage you to know more about prime factorization and shor's algorithm.
if anyone could make it he could break any system within a second all sorts of current cryptography would be useless

It might finally enable weather forecasts to be accurate more than a few days out as well. It will be interesting to know precisely where hurricanes will make landfall, instead of the spaghetti models that we have now which are better than nothing, but still leave a lot to be desired. I think quantum computers will be like GPS in the sense that governments will have the cutting edge capabilities before civilians. You could make unbreakable (with classical computers) and tamper-evident transmissions which will be of interest to militaries. Encryption like we have now with SHA-256 could be compromised, and would destroy coins that use this technology (like Bitcoin) unless some serious changes are implemented. It's all pretty fascinating though, and the connection between mathematics, computer science, and physics is kind of inspiring in a way.

Very cool!

Well its writing on wonderful article

Just imagine if the same size of computer rolled out and marketed then what could be reaction of public.....!!!

That computer sounds like its about to drop the hottest album of 2018!

I thought the same!

Few years from now they will be on my phone.

Wow, reminds me of images of computers in the 50s. Maybe this is the dawn of the next computer revolution!

The laboratory is extraordinary. the sophistication of computers is getting more and more. good post @hilarski

Heard yes. But awesome to look at. It's first time to see it. Outstanding technology. Great pleasure to share it to me.

Yes i have read a lot about it while in school but never got to see one.
Quantum computers are different from the current computing paradigm because they employ fundamentally different physics from the current computing paradigm. One thing that we have discovered about quantum physics is that it is inherently hard to calculate the detailed behaviour of a quantum mechanical systems on a regular computer. This has lead to the almost tautological idea that if we could make a machine, employing quantum physics, which could simulate the behaviour of any quantum mechanical process in general, then our machine would be able to do things that a classical computer could not.
Great picture and post.

Hello.
Thanks for update wonderful stuff and amazing information @hilarski.
Quantum computer which makes use of the quantum states of subatomic particles to store information.

Sir.. due to bandwidth my #steempower very low. I couldnot work in steemit. Please help to donate my some SP. I will be very thankful to you in kind regards.

Keep engaging, building an audience and you will not need donated Steem.

Thanks for reply .. i will try my best to do it

Great post @hilarski.
Currently, digital computers are deterministic. As currently implemented, quantum computers are not. They share properties of non-deterministic and probabilistic computers, including the ability noted above to be in more than one state simultaneously. This capability makes them well suited for running decryption algorithms, which explains the interest many governments have shown in funding quantum computing research.
So i see a lot of future for quantum computer.

is that bitcoin killer?

No, crypto is adapting and will be Quantum resistant.

Wow That awesome. Cool Technology @hilarski

I don’t get why the insides of the computer are colder than outer space!?

And I think it’s clear that the next big step in computing technology. A step closer to singularity for us.

One of my good friends is absolutely obsessed with Quantum Computers. He is not a techie guy at all, but for some reason this struck a chord with him! I think you are exactly right that they will continue to get smaller and more powerful!

"WOW" This is the future!!!! Incredible
-cheers-

I do not understand much about quantum computer, first I will make sure with my laptop TIGO, xDDD.

yes today I learnt in class about these generation of computers

Nice post sir. Awesome.
With the times so that the computer could be like now and easy to carry. If the computer that we can't take it everywhere

wow wonderful video

Quantum approach expanding across many fields there is Quantum biology, cryptograpghy ...
Quantum mechanics statred it , it's mind-blowing and revolutionary subject
silicon industry will hit a wall soon so this is the future
but on the other hand it will be a potential threat for all sorts of cryptography just beacuse https, ssl .. would be too easy to break with a quatum computer and all of our information and transcation won't be safe anymore I 'd encourage you to know more about prime factorization and shor's algorthim @hilarski

thanks for sharing the experience you had when first starting out. i will keep that in mind for any future comments i might be making. thanks for preventing new steemians from making those mistakes :) by the way i like what your doing here on steem, you keep it real, i can appreciate that for sure :) thanks for sharing your experience

it will be possible with quantum computing that bitcoin gets faster (now 7 tps is silly and useless as a currency)
this is what I know, I didn't know about Moore law etc. :)

Awesome Technology
and nicepost @hilarski

wow this is really very cool quantum computers the idea is just superb thanks for posting this really awesome
please keep posting such cool posts

Finally saw something like this incredible it was to see the video thanks a lot for sharing

Yes technology is awesome thank you for this interessing post

They may well change the world, but there are big challenges. They tend to need supercool in and can be unstable. They threaten some encryption, but I've not heard of them achieving that yet. Of course the NSA may have something

We will know when the first quantum computer is really born most likely all the crypto will be insta mined lol

I'm studying IT so I'm very interested in this kind of stuff.
Technology is the future!

Wow. Great topic. I love the discussion here.
Quantum computing has the potential to break all currently implemented forms of encryption, not just those used in bitcoin.
If and when this actually happens, every computer system on earth will be vulnerable. So you can bet that researchers, corporations and governments are working on better encryption methods as a contingency.
To contribute to the question asked by @cloudspyder, Will Quantum computing affect crypto? probably not because at its core, crypto is just a network of computers maintained by people and given enough incentive (such as protecting their wealth), people can adapt to any situation.

I've heard a while ago, but did not know that IBM was very advanced in the subject, some years ago I worked in a multinational company and our systems were all IBM, already at that time the engineers and technicians of the company already spoke of the subject as the holy grail of computation. they said that they would be incredibly quick to perform mathematical calculations.
I understand that the extraction of cryptocurrencies are mathematical calculations, thinking about it, the creation of virtual currencies will be faster, is it like this or I say an asshole?
Thank you very much dear friend @hilarski for sharing this information
I wish you a great day

interesting information.

thanks for nice information!

Okay, Now it's really scary. They will be so fast that they will be able to create an artificial intelligence on their own and conquer the world.

nice your video post

nice

I agreed that Quantum computing has the potential to revolutionise how we use data but it will be different from classical computer in one way by information is stored. Thanks for sharing precious information about new technology.

giphy (2).gif

Yes I did my research on it, at this point it's widely over-advertised and not really able to do the things that they sell it to some crazy corporations for (such as "opening portals to different dimensions...). The best, by far, overview of quantum computers that I've heard was from our genius-man Cliff High. I heard a podcast of him talking about what they can actually do, and it was mind blowing (Cliff, not the dimensional fake stuff :)) Thanks Randy!

I wrote a piece on this on my 0rig. Steemit Acc ;)
Nice!

Something wonderful and beautiful my friend

Good post, good job.

@hilarski This is great video and professional work
##Upvote/Resteem##

But can it run Crysis on max settings?
😂

thats crazy,,... thaanks for sharing this post sir.....
upvote done....

Would it be threat to crypto currency.

Hopefully someone much more familiar with quantum computing than I will be able to provide the best answer but I suspect the answer is yes, security as we know will be fundamentally changed. Quantum computing breaks the Moores Law @hilarski mentioned above by immediately going to an almost infinite speed where all machine instructions are executed in a parallel pipeline in virtually zero time. So, if using today’s super computers would take millions of years (some people calculate many billions) to break the security of bitcoin, then a quantum computer could do it in a few seconds….providing there’s a quantum computer, that it has a programming language that works, that memory has been invented that can process that fast, and that the channel architecture of the computer has a fast enough bus….

Some of them will be quantum-resistant. Quantum computers still have problems they’re slow at, it’s still possible to do public key cryptography in a way that’s safe from them.
That said, I wouldn’t worry about crypto-currencies. If somebody can actually build a scalable quantum computer, they could probably set off nukes and stuff - they could make the world end, from that perspective your Bitcoin getting stolen just isn’t a big deal.

Not necessarily. What you may see is a shift to the Tangle instead of the Blockchain

The biggest short term change I see in crypto from quantum computing is in the mining process and the biggest long term change I see is the underlying technology, (which also affects mining.)

Currently quantum computing is in its infancy and early examples like D Wave are not currently better than traditional computing. In a blockchain, blocks are mined by computers racing to solve extremely complex mathematical problems and earn the rewards. In theory, these problems can be solved much faster by quantum computers because qbits can exist in superpositions and are not confined by the traditional definite states (1 or 0.) This means quantum computers can mine bitcoins much faster than regular computers.

To add to what you have said.
Cryptocurrencies right now use the blockchain as the distributed ledger on which all transactions are recorded. Traditional computers find it very difficult to break crypto security, but quantum computers (for the reason explained above) would be able to crack the encryption used for private keys. This makes them vulnerable to quantum computer attacks. This is why blockchains will eventually become obsolete and will be replaced by The Tangle, a new platform for cryptocurrency, that eliminates mining. It is also quantum-resistant. The first example of this is IOTA.

Perhaps the entire universe is built on a Quantum blockchain lol
