OnePlus 6 was finally officially announced after many months of rumors and information delivered by the company little by little. We already knew that the phone was supposed to offer a top-of-the-box display and top specifications, all that remained to be confirmed was the final design and the peculiarities that would differentiate it from competition. Alongside OnePlus 6, the Chinese manufacturer also announced a new pair of wireless headphones called "Bullets Wireless", which will rival Apple AirPods and Google Pixel Buds.
To begin with, OnePlus introduced the Bullets Wireless headset, a new version of Bullet in-ear headphones that OnePlus was already selling. However, this model drops off the phone jack. The headphones are connected to each other by a thin cable and the side of the user's neck is covered with a rubberized surface. The calves are longer than we expected, and magnets are integrated into the ends.
The magnets connect the headphones automatically, and the detachment starts immediately. OnePlus praises the autonomy of these headphones, but also the ability to load quickly. 10-minute charging provides 5 hours of autonomy and charging can be done with any regular USB Type-C cable. In terms of performance, headphones should provide better sound than competing headphones, as the sound is directed directly to the outside without any loss in the way.
The price is surprising, as OnePlus sells the Bullets Wireless headset at 69 euros, at less than half the price than the competition. They are launched on June 5th.
The OnePlus 6 phone is the star of the show, according to Carl Pei CEO of the phone with "the most impressive list of technical specifications this year."
As expected, we're dealing with a 6.28 "smartphone on 19: 9 with Full HD + resolution, the phone's dimensions are almost identical to those of OnePlus 5T. Inside, we find a Snapdragon 845 in configurations with 6 GB RAM, or 8 GB RAM and 64, 128 or 256 GB storage options. The 3,300 mAh rechargeable battery also boasts the fastest on the market.
The main camera integrates two sensors, one for 20 and one for 16 megapixels, the sensors being used by Sony (IMX519 and IMX376K). For the first time, the OnePlus camera is stabilized both electronically and optically. Underneath, OnePlus 6 also offers a fingerprint sensor that ensures unlocking in just 0.2 seconds.
The construction is entirely made of Corning's Gorilla 5 glass, and the new design also provides water resistance (not an IPXX standard in which it falls). What has not changed to OnePlus 6 is however the bottom that offers both a USB Type-C plug and a headphone jack, despite the fact that OnePlus now also sells wireless headphones.
OnePlus said he chose the bottle for OnePlus 6 because it delivers much better radio transmission without turning to metal + plastic tapes or ceramics. According to OnePlus, the OnePlus 6 can withstand shocks as well as previous metallic rear models. This theory will certainly be tested by users.
In addition to the Mirror Black, the company will also deliver the Midnight Black with matt glass backs and a "Silk White" white version that will be limited. The latter will also have a golden metallic frame.
In the software chapter, the phone will integrate a gesture-based interface, as well as the option to benefit from the old virtual buttons on the screen. OnePlus has focused on optimizing the proprietary OxygenOS system for speed, which is even seen in fast charging, offering a day of use in just half an hour of charging. Also, unlocking by facial recognition will be the fastest on the market, only 0.4 seconds.
OnePlus 6 is also one of the first Android P compatible devices, and the developer preview software will be available just days after launching the phone for those who want to test it.
For gamers, OnePlus has also modified how Gaming Mode works, which just blocked notifications. It accelerates games by redirecting all system resources to games.
In the photo chapter, OnePlus adds new effects to portrait mode, such as the backlight, and the ability to shoot a minute in slow motion and then select the parts you want to slow down, as opposed to the 0.2 seconds of competition.
OnePlus 6 will be available in Midnight Black and Mirror Black on May 22, while the Silk White version will be released on June 5th. The starting price is 519 euro for the basic version, 569 for the 8 GB + 128 GB and 619 euro for the top version.
