Ever since I was a little kid, I have been fascinated with what may lie beyond Earth. I remember looking up to the night sky, in hopes to catch a glimpse of a UFO or just something amazing streaking through the night sky.
Technology today is consistently evolving and thanks to that, it has given us the opportunity to venture into space further than we’ve ever been before. Don’t forget that it was only about 5 years ago that NASA was speculating that there a possibility of water on Mars. Fast forward to today, and it has been confirmed.
As a kid I would watch documentaries about the Apollo moon landing and I would spend a substantial amount of time on Google searching up if aliens were real.
At 23 my fascination for the unknown has been refueled and reignited by a person that is revolutionizing every industry that he touches. I am talking about no one other than Elon Musk.
If you have not yet heard the news, yesterday was a historical day for planet Earth and for human race.
Elon and his Space X team made history when they successfully launched The Falcon Heavy, now the world's most powerful operational rocket.
“It's the biggest rocket in the world by far," Elon has said.
The Falcon Heavy is basically 3 big ass rockets put together, it has 27 huge engines that will put out as much thrust as 18 Boing airplanes.
Why should you care and why was it a breakthrough?
Well as you may or may not know the reason space travel is so expensive is due to unrecyclable boosters. You see, on a regular rocket once the booster is done doing its job (getting you to orbit), it just blows the F up…and well there goes $500 million dollars.
What Space X did, was create that reusable booster rocket and if you ask me, it looks a whole lot cooler watching the booster land instead of watching it blow up.
Check it out.
No other company has been successful in creating a reusable booster until now. The Key note here is ‘reusable’ since reusable equals cheaper.
What made this personally a whole lot more comical and exciting was the fact that the payload on top of the rocket was Elon’s own beautiful midnight cherry Tesla Roadster.
Thousands of people watched as the Falcon Heavy’s Engines ignited, and It slowly started to ascend towards space. The rocket had one of two faiths, it would either blow up and create the best firework display anyone had ever seen, or we would watch it reach out to the heavens and make history.
Elon Choose History.
The Tesla Roadster was successfully launched into space and it’s now enrout to the Mars orbit, then to the Asteroid belt where the car will travel through space for hundreds of millions of years along with its companion Starman at wheel hoping to be discovered someday by A future alien civilization.
If that isn’t symbolism for human achievement I don’t know what is.
