GALAXY Note 8 v Galaxy S8 - Samsung is having a very good year with its latest flagship set to win a host of awards but, with the Note 8 on the horizon, which device should you spend your money on?
Samsung’s Galaxy S8 is on course to be the best phone of 2017.
With its stunning design, blistering performance and improved camera it’s very hard to fault this flagship phone.
However, before you rush to buy one, the Galaxy S8 could be getting some very strong competition and we’re not talking about Apple’s iPhone 8.
Samsung looks set to launch its all-new Galaxy Note 8 as early as next month and, if rumours are true, it will include features not available on the Galaxy S8.
So what’s new on the Note 8 and should you wait before splashing the cash?
WHAT’S NEW ON THE NOTE 8?
Although the Note 8 won't arrive until later this year there’s plenty to suggest Samsung has something pretty special planned.
Last year’s Note 7 was hit by the exploding battery nightmare and Samsung is clearly keen to put this behind them with a blockbuster launch.
The Note 8 is expected to look similar to the Galaxy S8 with a curved Infinity display which will cover almost the entire front of the phone.
One difference with this screen, however, could be its size as the Note 8 looks set to feature an even bigger display that the current S8+.
This means fans should expect to see something north of 6.2-inches.
Like all Note devices, Samsung will include a refreshed S Pen with improved performance and more accuracy.
The S Pen is rumoured to include a vibrate function which gives feedback when it touches the Note 8’s screen.
Along with bigger screen and better stylus the other major difference coming to the Note 8 is the likelihood of it including a dual-lens camera.
Like the current iPhone 7, this dual camera setup should allow Samsung’s phablet to add DSLR-style depth of field and zoom effects.
SHOULD YOU BUY ONE?
If you love the Note series you should definitely hang on a few more weeks before upgrading your smartphone.
All signs point to this new device being top of its class and certainly the best phablet Samsung has ever created.
However, if rumours are true, it could be a big phone with a very big price tag and, if you’re not after a giant device in your pocket, the standard S8 is still best option from Samsung.
