Mavic Air is the drone giant's latest wonder.

Last night, the Chinese droning giant DJI unveiled a brand new model in its already broad portfolio.

The newcomer is called Mavic Air and is a small bag that is both easy to carry around and which has a useful input.

With outer dimensions of 16.8 cm × 18.4 × 6.4 cm in unfolded state, the new drone is not much bigger than DJI's minidrone Spark, and significantly less than Mavic Pro. It also has an emphasis on only 430 grams.

Impressive functionality in small packaging
Even with the compact size, Mavic Air distinguishes itself with quite usable specifications. It has a camera that can handle 4K resolution at up to 30 frames per second, and with full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, you can shoot at up to 120 frames per second.

Still images are recorded with 12 megapixel resolution and HDR quality. Otherwise, DJI makes a point that the dronning is the first of their models that has 8 GB of internal storage. This allows you to save some images and video locally, in case you have forgotten the microSD card, or just need some extra storage.

Like other DJI drones, Mavic Air has more intelligent flight modes and image features, and the news the dronning offers is a panoramic feature that allows you to sew 25 frames into a 32-megapixel image. It also has a newly developed system called Advanced Pilot Assistance, which automatically helps prevent obstacles.

The drones have a maximum flight time of 21 minutes and, according to the manufacturer, can fly steady in wind forces of up to 36 kilometers per hour and at altitudes up to 5000 meters above sea level. The drones can achieve a maximum speed of 68 kilometers per hour without wind.

Mavic Air has a European award of 849 euros.
