Stop saying 'drive a car': this is the flying model of the future. When the Chinese are interfering, it can go fast!

A flying car: it is no longer science fiction. At the end of next year a Dutch company will place them in their stores, but also the Chinese company Geely - owner of the Swedish car manufacturer Volvo - will come up with a model. The TF-X will be groundbreaking.

According to the CEO of the Chinese company, the car will fly - no, say no longer drive a car – and it will be relaxing, but also convenient, safe and economical. It even bought up the American company Terrafugia, which has been building prototypes of flying cars for several years. Five students from one of the most prestigious universities of technology in the world - the Massachusetts Institute of Technology - have been working on it for ten years. And now the Chinese interfere, especially with a lot of money.

A luxury solution for traffic congestion

In 2019 the car manufacturer wants the first vehicle in the air, but I do not think that it will be able to stand on the driveway. After all, you need a runway - and that is not in every front yard. Only in 2023 will the car be able to take off and land vertically. That would be possible with the powerful 300 hp engine. With the flying car, the Chinese mainly want to stop traffic congestion. They aim at densely populated urban areas. Logically, China thus becomes the first guinea pig.

Cost price: 240,000 euros

The device does not have much use for a large family, because the car only comes as a two-seater. It will most likely not be used by the middle class either : for less than 240,000 euros you do not become the owner. For that price you get a vehicle that is on average fifty minutes faster at the desired location, two folding wings with double engines (weight 570 kilograms) and a landing gear.

The TF-X or 'Transition' reaches a maximum height of 3,048 meters and a maximum speed of 322 kilometers per hour. His reach: 805 kilometers. Whoever wants one, you can become a licensed private pilot with a course of about 20 hours (It’s like this in Belgium, I don’t know for other countries). If it becomes too busy in the air or the weather is too bad, then the TF-X deviates automatically. Flying is also not possible in the vicinity of an airport. If your toy is flat, you can plug it in at home or an electric charging station in the neighborhood.

Great post. Indeed the Future is almost here. Fossil fuel powered cars are phasing out and innovative renewable energy cars with awesome designs.

I love the part "A luxury solution for traffic congestion." Thanks so much.

Thanks Mark!
