My Dream to Open a Coding/programming School in a Developing Country! Helping Save the future of a Nation.

Since I made the decision to move back to Haiti from the U.S, I have been contemplating many ideas on what to do to really bring about change inside the country. But one particular idea that has been really stuck on my mind lately is A Learning Center/School where, kids or adult can especially learn how to code or program- But before i tell you a bit more, I am sure many of you reading my post right now, might have heard or seen on the news when the massive 7.0 earthquake hit Haiti in 2010 killing more than 200,000 people. Thank God, no one close to me were affected. But, needless to say, we were still pretty shaken by the images we saw of dead or injured people, pancaked down building and houses. Im sure you did too hence why you probably quickly donated money. But the sad truth is Haiti nearly saw 5% of that money-

Its now been 7 years- The red cross, the clinton foundation and many other organizations who raised money in the name of "Haiti" did little for Haiti. But, that's a whole other topic!

However, Haitians are a very courageous people. We keep striving and we keep moving forward. That is why it was important for me to move back- to play a part in the matter. To help change the perception of my country one, and two, help people as much as i can. It is the youth of the country that suffers from all of the country's misfortunes mostly- I cannot help but shake my head when i drive in the streets of Port-au-prince, seeing them wondering around- It is not their fault that the crazy streets have become their homes- No one is there to look out for them and it breaks my heart. But something can be done.

I will share more with you as I gather more resources and information- In the Meantime i hope the steemit community encourages me and follows me as I share my journey to opening the school for kids from age 7 and up-
But of course i cannot do it alone- Thats why i am here, sharing my story- learning from you and hopefully gather even more necessary resources, and maybe raise money in order to make this dream of mine come true and eventually play in part in helping save the future of Haiti-

YES kitkat85! Love this, keep it up :)

People do need to know as well that Haiti received very little relief funding. I found out about this awhile ago, not very cool at all. Bless you for doing this and helping these kids!

My sister knows some people that were lost in the Quake, it was a brutal event. We remember Haiti! And the children! Resteeming.

Thank you so much for your comment. Im glad you are aware of the situation with the money- Not even a house was built by the red cross- Its a real shame. But some of us want to change the paradigm here in the country. :)

Ayyy keep it up. Once the Steemit community becomes more aware of your dream, it is only a matter of time until it becomes a reality :)

Thank you so much. :)

you're very welcome :)

This is awesome... I'm hoping your vision becomes reality! I admire you for relocating to Haiti and really doing the "hard work" on the ground, although it seems like it's very fulfilling for you based on how happy you seem in the pictures :) I think there's a huge potential for cryptocurrencies like STEEM and others to get aid to countries like Haiti, without unscrupulous "charities" that squander the funds which are so needed. Actually, governments aren't too able to interfere because you can just send the funds directly from wallet to wallet. By all means keep posting your experiences on Steemit. You should also really get involved with the @minnowsupport project which helps support smaller Steemians as we aspire towards gaining the resources necessary to making a tangible positive change on ourselves and our communities. All the best and I hope to read more stories of your life in Haiti in the future!

Such a great message. Thank you so much. I think cryptocurrency definitely has a tremendous opportunity for Haiti to receive aid etc and to help in many other ways... check out my post about that- I wrote on how cryptocurrency can help developing countries like Haiti- I will get involved with @minnowsupport project and see- It's my dream to help and I have recently started with a friend who owns a school here in Haiti to create activities for kids- a way to get my coding school project started. Thank you so much for this!
