Acer Swift 3 - Review

Acer Swift series already thrilled me last November, when I test a Swift 7, the thinnest laptop in the world. This time the test have the cheapest representatives Swift series, which is the hardware does not differ much from the one thinnest, indeed, even something stronger because of the different cooling systems, but it also brings all the slots that you would from a laptop could wish for.

The seventh-generation processors Kaby Lake is located and in the notebook, with a very good HD display that can be completely dissolved, the backlit keyboard and excellent produce, and there is even a fingerprint reader and a battery.

Design and Body

Swift 3 comes in aluminum housing, but this time without the matte background that has already been a great magnet for fingerprints. Making it to the highest level and would not be ashamed, nor is twice more expensive devices.

It all seems very tight, and the only twisting observed only in a stronger pressure on the keyboard, or if you just take the screen with both hands and try to gently twist. Thus, during normal use, you will not notice absolutely none of that.

With a weight of 1.5 kg and a thickness of 18 mm, Swift 3 definitely not one of the thinnest and lightest devices in this category, but this is still considerably smaller and lighter than any classic gear.

Once it Open out, you will notice a black backlit keyboard, which is warmly recommended. It is large enough for a longer text, has a solid stroke keys, especially for the ultrabook, in addition to the lower edges of the device are slightly rounded so you nor they will not pose a problem.

The touchpad is compared to Swift 7 much smaller, but still very accurate and large enough that you should not have objections to it. On the right side below the keyboard is situated and fingerprint reader, which is very fast and accurate.

On the left side of the unit is located slot for charging, more accurately even two slots. One is the classic charger that came with your laptop, and the other is a USB-C. However, once again we have the same situation as with Swift 7 and you will not be able to charge with the help of some portable battery or charger for your smartphone, as it can with the MacBook Pro, for example.

Screen

14 "IPS LCD screen comes in FullHD resolution and is generally very good. The only drawback is its full-screen brightness, which could be slightly higher for comfortable use in daylight. No problem if you use the text or surf the Internet, but not for watching movies on the beach.

Contrast is excellent however, and the angles of visibility are very good for a notebook.
Display hinges are great and very strong, and I'll be able to disassemble the display even with one hand. Some will especially like the fact that the screen can completely disassembled. Frankly, I personally do not see the application of this, except that it possibly such a stripped installed on the wall, but I'm sure you will find yourself among those who will especially appreciate something like this.

Hardware and performance

My model came with the newest Intel Kaby Lake generation processors. It is a dual-core i5-7200U processor clocked at 2.5 GHz, combined with the Iris 620 graphics coprocessor. It has built and 8 GB DDR4 RAM, and 250 GB SSD M2.
There is also a cheaper model with i3 processor, as well as the more expensive and slightly higher with i7-wire, depending on what you want to use.

I had no trouble on this model with i5-wire could use Photoshop, or even handle short video in Premiere. AutoCAD is also spun without problems and did all the homework that I gave him. Of course, this is by no means workstation and should be careful to limit, but in any case it is encouraging that you are such a device can be used even for difficult operations.

On top of the screen is the expected bad HD camera, what else we find in most of today's laptops. Will be used for any Skype call and the like, just be sure that you have enough light in the room.

The quality of the WiFi signal was in a very solid level and never had a problem with reception whenever I used this ultrabook.

Battery

From Ultrabook is expected great autonomy, and Swift 3 just that and returns. Acer it advertises as a device that will withstand 10 hours. Depending on what I worked on it, she knew endure even more than that. True, in the worst case would it something more burdened, endured would only 7-8 hours, or for use with office tools and view multimedia will surely serve close to 10 hours. Of course, if you will on it to play games, do not expect nor those 7 hours.

Shortly

Acer Swift 3 is another great ultrabook that objective has two disadvantages. The brightness of the screen, which could be something višljoj level so that it is easy to operate and to view multimedia out there, and speakers that you also will not serve the best, because they are relatively quiet and not very good quality.
