Summary: For photovoltaics sunlight is the source to generate electron flow in order to produce electricity. So, absorption of sunlight directly leads to the power generation. This is necessary for these power generators to absorb large amount of sunlight but the reflected light escapes and is a total loss. A research group at KIT got inspired from black butterfly wings to absorb 200% of the light as compared to before.

Photovoltaics are solar cells that produce power or electricity by absorbing sunlight.

In Butterfly wings, there are nanopores distributed unevenly and of random diameter... In the above image, you can see this pattern...!!

So this is a good step forward towards the sustainable energy and I hope that in near future we'll tackle our energy problems using these reliable sources... Only the problem is efficiency but the discoveries remakable like this will be able to tackle this problem too...

If they use some nanostructures which can not absorb, just interact with the particles, just like playing tennis, they could gers triple the efficiency of the solar cells, not only with the light, just with the spectrum of electromagnetic waves
