Pilots of drones over 800 grams will have to complete a mandatory training next September

In application of the law of October 24, 2016, the General Directorate of Civil Aviation announces the establishment of a mandatory training to drive drones of over 800 grams (to get a better idea of the drones involved, the Parrot Anafi which has just been presented weighs 320 grams, the DJI Mavic Air 430 grams and the Mavic Pro 734 grams).

The training is free and will be accessible from September 2018 via a website and a dedicated mobile application. A certificate of training follow-up will be downloadable once you have passed the test. In addition, a training provided by the French model aircraft federation will be considered equivalent.

The aim of such training is first and foremost to raise the awareness of tele-pilots " it will develop a responsible practice through a pedagogical approach to improve the conditions of use in safety and the knowledge of the essential rules. In addition, this tool will make the remote pilots aware of the necessary respect for the privacy of third parties on the ground. "

Respect for privacy
The issue of privacy is a sensitive subject; many precautions should be taken especially if you want to fly legally. A guide to the use of drones is already proposed by the government:

The pilot must never lose sight of his drone or fly at night or higher than 150 meters
It must not fly over the urban area or people.
It should not approach aerodromes and sensitive sites
People around you and your drone must be informed, especially if your drone is equipped with a camera. Do not record images to recognize or identify people (faces, license plates ...) without their authorization.

The DGAC also offers an interactive map of the areas subject to a ban and conversely areas where you can practice this activity in peace.
