DNA Storage
Imagin:
Just imagine That how good it will be that you are carrying your whole data in your own body. You do not need to pay any cloud storage company you do not need to take worry about the security and you do not need to carry any storage devices with you. Future is going to be amazing.
Storing data has been the biggest problem since the invention of computer. In the beginning, it was very hard to store data. Different techniques were used to store data. First Punch cards were used to store data. Then techniques developed a lot. Different types of storage devices were developed like Floppy disks, tapes, CDs, DVDs, HDD, and USB.

In the Beginning, Floppy Disk of 1 MB was more than enough but as we continued producing data it became very less. Then tapes were developed were we could store our data but as time passed it also started to become low. Then CDs developed CDs were much faster and Had good space but time left it far behind then DVDs came. DVDs did a great job. It had good storage amount but the problems were that it was needed special care from scratches.
But HDD was invented before floppy disk. We are still using HDDs but nowadays HDDs are much faster and provide a large storage amount. But it covers lots of room. Because in this era of technology we are producing lots of data. For example, 1-minute 8k video clip is almost of 8GB. This is going to hard to store this data in future on HDDs.
DNA
As We know DNA stores genetic data of any living organism. Scientists found that digital data can be stored on DNA. DNA has a huge capacity for storing digital information. 1 Gram Of DNA can store 215 petabytes of Data. The data on the internet can be put in a glass of DNA.

Data stored on The DNA can last for thousand years if it kept cool and dry.
“DNA won’t degrade over time like cassette tapes and CDs, and it won’t become obsolete,”
says Yaniv Erlich, a computer scientist at Columbia University. It will be very easy to code and decode data from DNA as technology develops.
It Will Take Time:
This technology is not developed fully. It is not applicable on a large scale because it is very expensive. It will take 7000$ to store data on DNA and it will take another 2000$ to decode. But as time will pass the cost will decrease. But here is one disadvantage that its speed is very low than current storage devices but its capacity is awful.
