It's rather rare to see a brand new car startup popping up in the good old automobile industry.
But ever since the world witnessed the successes of Tesla, it seems like a me-too movement has slowly started in the automobile industry as well.
Faraday Future in 2014; Future Mobility Corp in 2016. All wanting a piece of the huge pie!
Started by former BMW and Nissan execs, Future Mobility Corp is a China-based startup, and apparently, does not have a factory yet.
Here's what they have:
A fantastic and (not to mention) wildly ambitious EV concept of its car brand Future Mobility Corp called Byton. The company is hoping to launch the EV in 2022.
Wait, what?!
Did I mention the company does not even has its factory yet? Goddamn! (Well, who knows what former execs of world class car makers can do?)
And this is just the first of the THREE vehicles the company is hoping to launch by 2022. The concept car is unveiled at CES 2018.
However, most of the flashy features and specifications of the concept car were seen on the screens. Like, how the car would have Amazon's Alexa as voice assistant, substantial internet connectivity (to make video calls?), and more.
Oh and, they claimed that the front seats will be able to rotate all around to face passengers in the back seats (WOW).
Most details remain scarce. On a more serious note, based on Tesla's struggles with the productions of Tesla 3 and difficulties faced by Faraday Future, it's best to maintain some skepticism amidst optimism (read: get real).
