Yesterday, a minor problem was averted thanks to the wonders of the age that we live in!
There I was on my way to work, getting ready to work on a post for steemit while a co-worker was driving. As I opened my backpack to get out my computer, I noticed that my wallet was in my backpack. That may not seem like a big deal at first, but here is why it was an issue.
You see, @mama-pepper is pregnant and had a pregnancy checkup yesterday. Rather than subscribing to the government-run health insurance we opted to be exempt and participate in a health-share ministry. This means that although we do not have an official, government approved health insurance company that we pay, we are not able to be fined by the government for not having coverage, because those participating in a health-share ministry are granted an exemption.
Health-share & Credit Cards
That said, we pay our medical bills up front and then get reimbursed later on after meeting our deductible. Rather than just paying cash or using a check, I like to use the credit card for large purchases because we also pay our credit card bills right away, so we take advantage of the cashback rewards. Anyway, rather than just paying cash yesterday, we were hoping to use the credit card so we could get about $10 back, but I was on the way to work, and @mama-pepper was still at home.
On my drive to work though, I pass by our storage unit. This gave me the opportunity to stop by there and hide the credit card in the unit, but how would I be able to tell @mama-pepper where I hid it?
Modern Technology
That is where the benefits of modern technology came into play. Rather than trying to explain it to her and trying to have her remember everything that I said, I just snapped a few photos to text her. These are the times when a picture is worth a thousand words.
It simplified the conversation, and left no room for doubt or error in the mind of @mama-pepper. Though technology can be a drain on time or a distraction, it certainly has it's benefits too! Not to mention steemit!

Nice solution! I think it's amazing when I say to my young nieces and nephews "It's how we had to do things before the internet and cell phones."
That's usually met with sideways glances of disbelief. lol

That's a very nice life-hack, @papa-pepper. I also find that I use my cellphone camera for dozens of "on the fly" applications that I might never have thought of if it weren't in my pocket! For example, "remembering" prices of items I'm shopping for between two stores... ;) 😄😇😄

I wish we had all this cool stuff when I was growing up.
Heck, the world was still in black and white back then.
I'd be interested to learn more about the health share ministry.
How does it work?
We have a different system of health care here - the government provides for hospital care, the Accident Compensation Commission (a government department) pays for any medical treatment you need if you have an accident - from cutting your finger with a bread knife, to falling off a mountain.
Doctors visits are subsidized if you are on a low income, and there is also private health care insurance that you can take out.
The public system is what you would expect - the care is ok, the wait times for all but emergency stuff is long, but on the plus side - it's free.
If you don't want to, or can't wait and you have insurance, you can get your treatment done right away - often in the same hospital.
So it's a mix of public and private care, that i think works well.
