I've been using Mint for a few years now. Ubuntu seems better suited to media consumption (so we have it on our living room PC attached to the TV) but for getting any work done Mint just feels more comfortable.

It's for school. I am just starting with Linux. I have yet to find which distro I like the best, but Ubuntu is actually too easy for learning. I think I want a Linux machine in the house somewhere else, like maybe in the "shop."

Mint is pretty easy too - which I think is a strength, but I guess it doesn't necessarily help you learn as many ins and outs. If you really want to wrestle with the nitty-gritty of Linux configuration, you might want to try Arch or Gentoo. I've heard these are the hardest to install, but you wind up with a completely streamlined, customized system.

awsome technology.
