Paradigm shifting the jobs we used to do and what we should do now. 1/365

I am going to try and write a short post daily based on conversations I have had in the last 24 hours related to the trends I watch and the work I am involved in as a career coach for people older then 50. Many of the conversations will also be of great interest to younger workers.

I am an executive PA is the call I took yesterday. Currently I work for two different executives in two different companies.
How is this portfolio changing? Am I on track to remain employed in the future?

This role has changed significantly over the past 20 years. Many now plan and execute their own lives. Maybe if you are older and work for a C Suite executive there may still be some opportunities. Beware when he/she retires you may also have to retire.

I see a shift to virtual assistants offering many of the same skills/services. You don't need to employ them full-time. Virtual assistants can also work for more than one client. You can also work from a remote office. This can have many benefits.

It is worth stepping back and making sure you are remaining relevant even if you currently feel secure.
