Either it's a huge misstep or it's the start of something better. I gave in to convenience and purchased the LG G4 for way too much money. $699 CDN to be exact. Since the battery for my last smartphone (LG G2) was fried, I was off the grid for seven days. Seven agonizing long days. I felt kinda naked without the phone. Not that I'm a social animal but I did miss looking up the score of games and the price of my stocks.
I could have bought a G2 battery off Amazon and changed it myself. It might have costed $20 or so, but there were so many screws and adhesives inside the phone from the video I watched that I didn't want to deal with them.
Or I could have bought or borrowed a used G2 off one of my relatives but the smartphone to me is terribly private. I don't want to lend it to anyone nor do I want to borrow it from others.
I took the plunge and bought the G4 for $699. I didn't buy the latest G5 as the salesman mentioned that some customers have had some problems with it. The reason I bought the G4 outright is that I didn't want to lose my cellphone plan, which gives me 5 Gb of data along with the other usual items for $50 per month. (That's a decent plan for Canada.)
After I bought the phone, I said to myself, 'the phone will pay for itself'.
Anybody know where I can get paid for using the phone?
I feel your pain... we did the same thing earlier this year.

I got sold a bad G4. The display starting showing the left and right halves of the screen as separate halves, and eventually stopped working. The touch part still worked, but the display itself wasn't functional. Sprint told me it was a common problem with G4s and LG repaired it for me under the warranty. I think I paid ~$500 USD (~$660 CND) on a payment plan less than a year ago. Back up your phone regularly. Other than that problem, I love it.

Hmmm, well... you could take a sales job and dial for dollars, right? Phone stuff is such a pain - the tech is great when it works, and a crushing disappointment when it doesn't.

I was thinking along the lines of writing steemit posts during my daily commutes.

Hey. When you hear about the cheap smart phones that are about to flood the market in other countries, it seems so outrageous to charge so much. By the way, who the heck is your provider? 5GB for $50 CDN? I pay more than that for just 2GB.

I signed up to a Rogers/provincial government plan 3 years ago and I hope it's grandfathered forever.
