For about a month, I went without a computer.
Being in a tech infused world, at the beginning, I thought it was going to be hard. I've never been without a computer for more than two days. I still had access to my iPad, as well as my phone. I thought that I would get a lot less work done and my productivity would be a lot lower.
But to my surprise, being without a computer didn't affect me too much.
Most of what I do on the computer can be done on my iPad, or even my phone. Mobile technology has gone a long way up from when it first came out. Compared to flip phones, modern smartphones can do so much. I never realized the true power of my phone until this month. Why? Because I never bothered to take care of it too much.
Tablets are like mini computers.
My iPad can do nearly as much as my computer. To most users, owning a tablet and owning a computer can be pretty much the same thing. My personal belief is that computers are only needed for high level things such as making applications for our phones and heavy computing, and most things can be done with just our phones. I'm looking forward to see when tablets get even more powerful, and someday, mabye even replace computers.Microsoft has their Surface tablets which can be used as a computer with just a keyboard attached.
You should really try without any type of tablets for a better experience and its true mobile computing is very powerful but I still prefer computers.

Before purchasing my most recent laptop I tried going "without" for a bit and found that an iPad just didn't feel as smooth for video editing and some other work that I was doing at the time.
The closest analogy that I can think of is trying to go on a long-distance road trip on a motorcycle, when you're used to a luxury sedan. Could you do it? Sure. But it's just not the same ride.

Yeah, that's true. I wonder if we will get to a point where both computers and tablets have the exact same amount of power.

Even if the capability is the same, it also defeats the purpose of a tablet, i.e. more portable and convenient vs. the roominess of laptop / full workstation, especially for folks who use heavy visual design / editing apps, e.g. Final Cut Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Autodesk.
