I used to work for Samsung Malaysia's ad agency, so we get all sorts of perks (eg. knowing the price of hero products wayyyyy before everyone else) and discounts. I resigned eventually, but I've still been diligently chasing after updates on the latest Samsung products.
But work piled up lately and it wasn't until I was cleaning up after my pet tortoise... that I found this.
And what in the ass, the Samsung Galaxy Note8 costs a whopping RM3999 in Malaysia!? Insider news (ex-colleague who still works there) told me that it's selling like hot cakes too!
I won't dive deep into the specs since it's already widely available on Google anyway. But yeah, as ridiculous as I feel the price is, there's been another 'leak' news confirming the price of Apple's iPhone8, the Note8's biggest rival to be around RM4999 for the 512GB model.
I did have plans to trade-in my S7edge for the Note8, but not anymore I guess. I'm a fan of Samsung's smartphones because of their camera, but for that kind of price? I guess I'll just wait until my phone dies completely and hopefully by then, I can afford the Note9.
This post is really short because I'm trying to see if blogging on my phone works! Anyhow, let me know in the comments if you think I should switch to Huawei's P10 instead; I have been apprehensive about it previously due to the fierce competition between Samsung and Huawei... and we worked in the same corporate building.
I just feel most branded phones are overpriced dy. Having said that, people can still squeeze money out of their pockets to get one.

If my phone dies I'd try Huawei's phone though, since it's cheaper, P10 has great camera too. However, the phones' prices will go up eventually, I can't imagine myself getting a 5K worth phone in the future.

Prices of these smartphones are ridiculous, but you know what, they've become an important part of our lives! My iPhone 6 recently died (almost got two years out of it) and decided to switch to Android to see if I liked it or not (with the Google Pixel). Awesome phone, so many great features, but at the end of the day I just preferred iOS over Android. Personal preference I suppose, and while I won't be lining up for the ridiculously overpriced iPhone X ($1500AUD, wtf...), the iPhone 8 looks like a worthy upgrade.
I tried really hard to like the Android because I really did like the Pixel. Oh well. I've got a few mates working in Samsung here in Australia too and they've got their hands on the Note8, and they're loving it. Some of them upgraded from the S8/S8+ too. I tested the portrait mode for the camera on the Note8, and it's freakin' awesome!
My uncle works at the head office of Huawei @ Shenzhen and he sent the P10 to my dad. Very nice, completely changed my opinion of Huawei, though the build quality isn't up there with Samsung and Apple (hard to beat the premium feel of glass all over).
