Greetings steemians... I trust God that y'all having a great day.. Today i want to share with you something that changed the course of the world in the 17th and 18th centuries.. The industrial revolution.

The great events that directed science and technology on the paths they pursue today were the profound social changes that occurred between 17th and 18th centuries. As encyclopedia of knowledge puts it.

One of these was French revolution and industrial revolution. French revolution of (1789) stressed the need for rational conduct of human affairs. It have impetus to calculations and mathematics (logical). In other words, the economy of the 19th century world was formed mainly under the influence of the British industrial revolution. But its politics and ideology were formed mainly by French revolution.<

THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

By way of definition, the industrial revolution according to one dictionary is:

the development of Britain and other western nations into industrial societies in the 18th and 19th centuries . the industrial revolution broke out happened sometime in the 1780s and 1800s where by for the first time in human history, the shackles were taken off the productive power of human societies , which henceforth became capable of the constant and rapid and up to the present limitless multiplication of men, goods and services. This is now technically known to the economists as takeoff into self- sustained growth.<

No previous society had been able to breakthrough the ceiling which a preindustrial society structure defective science and technology and consequently periodic break down, famine and death imposed on production.

The three main developments factors that stimulated the industrial revolution were power, coal mining and iron smelting. The heart of the industrial revolution was an interrelated succession of technological changes combined with new forms of industrial organization. The main technological changes were:

• The substitution of mechanical devices for human labour and skill.

• The replacement of animal and human strength by inanimate power.

*The improvement on getting and working of raw materials ..

The main organizational changes were associated with the factory system of production , it's discipline, division of labour, employer- worker relationship, and increase in the size of productive units. In other words, emphasis switched from agriculture to the production and manufacture of goods with the aid of machines and chemical processes. The industrial revolution is a complex subject and all i have done is to review or highlight a number of its more important features.

IMPACT OF INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

The industrial revolution was centered in Europe for some reasons, the conditions were favourable to the development of technology in this area at this time. In an attempt to analyse the impact of the industrial revolution in Europe, some aspects will be discussed. The general impact of the industrial revolution, which can still be seen today, is that it has given Europe , use and other western world a lead in the various spheres of human activities. The revolution had impact both economically and socially, and economic impact include the growth of industrial and other commercial activities including: manufacturing, world trade and banking.

Opening of sea-lanes for international trade led to expansion in naval construction , construct of ports internal network to service sea-lanes. River transportation were also improved. Expansion of external trade also let yo creation of colonies. Military strength was required to protect the interest of these countries . development of military hardware were pursued. This also had impact on expansion of Industries. Social structures of Europe also changed.

Most of the rural population or peasant farmers moved to cities. While mechanization of agriculture led to the growth of various hands required to produce food for the teeming population and cities. Feudal system gave way to city middle class, urbanization increased pressure on housing and other social problems arose. Next in line we would discuss about africa and the roadmap to industrial revolution.
